Life & Work with Wilma Troyer of Sugarcreek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilma Troyer.

Hi Wilma, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We are a privately owned, family-run business—husband and wife, not a franchise—and we’re not affiliated with any other EE System location. We take great pride in offering a beautiful, peaceful space where people can relax and unwind within the EE System, surrounded by soothing music and the uplifting, high-frequency scents of Young Living essential oils. The EE System is a bio-photonic light and scalar energy technology. Studies have provided evidence of the potential of bio scalar energy to boost human cell regeneration, mitochondria function, immune functions, and neurotransmitter functions. This means the EE System can significantly increase your energy level, mental clarity, enhance health and wellbeing. Bio-photonic light and scalar energy work together to create an exceptionally healthy environment for our body and nervous system, enabling the body to unconditionally recalibrate itself to achieve balance and homeostasis.

We, Leon and Wilma, were both raised in the Amish community here in Ohio and lived that way of life for 30 years. We’re grateful for the foundation it provided—a strong sense of purpose, a dedicated work ethic, and the importance of family at the heart of everything we do. We’re blessed with three wonderful daughters—Liz, Amanda, and Loretta—and our four-legged companion, Hazel, who joyfully welcomes guests to the center most days.

When Leon and I turned 30, in 2006, we made the decision to leave the Amish faith. We have always had a love for adventure, curious minds, free spirits, and felt like there was more “out there” for us to explore. We left Ohio for 5 years and lived in different parts of the country such as beautiful Colorado, Hawaii, Mississippi, South Carolina, and then back to Ohio in 2012. Along the way we were always intrigued by the growing knowledge of alternative healing methods. We began to see the importance of seeking whole body healing, focusing on creating a more coherent mind, body, and emotions, and how that can support us to live a more empowered life to create the life we want. The journey has been an incredible one to say the least. Part of which is why we have the EE System to begin with.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like I mentioned, having the present EE system wellness center is a part of our journey. Back in 2013, we moved back to Ohio for almost 9 months, when Leon had a life threatening accident while helping my brother train his buggy horse. Leon was thrown from the open buggy and hit a fence post with the side of his head. He had to be life flighted from the scene. While he had a traumatic physical injury that involved him needing emergency brain surgery, he was actually having a blissful out of body experience while in his coma for 3 days! He experienced an energy realm of light and energy flow and the most loving, blissful feeling space ever. He attributes this experience to his miraculous healing to date. The doctors gave us some pretty grim numbers and data on paper, but Leon’s improvements kept proving the doctors wrong. We were so grateful to tell the story of a miracle, despite some of the emotional ups and downs we had along the way. Leon always said after he “came back” that this energy and light he experienced is for us NOW, like present day accessible. But back in 2013 we had only begun to say the phrase “everything is energy” and really didn’t have the understanding of how profound and true that statement really is. Fast forward to 2022, we came across one of these Energy Enhancement Centers and felt the urge to go visit one as we were intrigued. After our first visit of only 2 hours we both knew instantly that this is so much like the “space” Leon went to when he had his accident. In the energy space Leon experienced, he saw color, light, and movement—and people coming and going, receiving healing from this same energy. It’s incredible that what he once witnessed in that state is now happening in physical form at centers like ours.

Ten years after Leon’s accident, we discovered something that mirrored his earlier experience—a tangible reflection of what he had seen in the metaphysical realm. Leon always said, “This energy is available to us now,” and we’ve come to see how true that is. The EE System offers a way for people to experience that restorative energy firsthand, and we’re grateful to share it through our own Light Center, known as the EE System across the US and the world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Having grown up in the Amish tradition, the hands-on way of learning instilled values and skills that have guided us throughout our journey. My husband Leon and I cherish living fully—embracing joy, adventure, and the excitement of new experiences. Maybe even venturing into some things that are out of our comfort zone. For instance, many people may find surprising about us, since we grew up Amish, we had the opportunity to move to Hawaii back in 2011 to work for the TV show Dog and Beth the Bounty Hunter. We both became bail bondsmen for them working in there office in Hawaii and writing up bail. It was a crazy experience, and it may have been short lived, but we learned a lot about ourselves and what we are actually capable of. We always said if an opportunity of a lifetime presents itself we need to jump on it. My husband and I only have an 8th grade education, no high school diploma, or any college education, so learning about bail bonds was a whole new realm of work to learn! But we did it!
Living in areas where we knew no one also pushed us to do our own research and learn as best we could on what would work for us and our 3 daughters. Along the way we always held importance towards alternative whole body healing and learning and asking questions about why and how things get done when someone is sick. Asking questions is the greatest tool you can carry with you in life. Staying curious is key! After Leon’s accident, we found ourselves running our wellness center here in Ohio—a space filled with energy and light. We’re both deeply passionate about the work we do. More than the services we offer, it’s about how people feel when they walk through our doors. We love seeing visitors discover their own paths, find answers, and leave feeling renewed.

What sets us apart is the unique modality we share with the public—one that supports not only physical well-being but also mental and emotional balance. Having experienced our own highs and lows, we understand how deeply life’s challenges can shape us, for better or worse. Leon and I feel called to offer support, even in the smallest ways—because sometimes, a small act of care can shift the entire course of someone’s life.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Find your tribe! Hang out with the people that you resonate with and be mindful of the things that no longer serve your higher purpose. Keep doing your own research. Keep asking questions about everything. Know that you can think for yourself. Learn to follow your own intuition.
We also love the quote by Albert Einstein – No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it,” which emphasizes that changing one’s thinking is key to overcoming issues. This has been helpful in changing our perspective when we find ourselves in a situation that may feel like it won’t go away or easily dissolve!
