Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Ryan.
Hi Allison, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for helping and supporting people through their mental health challenges. From early on, I found it really fulfilling to work with youth and see how the right guidance and connection could help them overcome obstacles and build resilience.
Over time, that passion grew into a career in mental health, and now I’ve pivoted into launching my own counseling agency, My goal is to create a practice that provides high-quality care with fewer barriers, so that people can access the support they need without unnecessary obstacles.
In addition to my practice, I also serve on the board of a nonprofit called YCP, which focuses on decreasing recidivism and supporting individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated as they transition back into their communities. It’s incredibly meaningful work, and it ties back to my larger mission of helping people heal, grow, and build better futures.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s where the real growth has happened. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to marry the mental health side of my work with the business side. As a therapist, my focus has always been on providing care and support—but running a practice requires a whole different skill set.
I’ve had to learn how to balance being clinically excellent with also being strategic, organized, and entrepreneurial. It’s been a journey of finding that sweet spot where I can maintain the integrity and heart of the work while also building a sustainable business that can reach more people and make a bigger impact. It’s been challenging, but also incredibly rewarding.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice focuses on providing high-quality, compassionate mental health care for people from all walks of life. I specialize in working with individuals who are managing OCD, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), ADHD, and those seeking EMDR therapy for trauma emotional healing and more!
A big part of my approach is helping clients recognize and build on the strengths they already have. I believe that people are often more resilient than they realize, and therapy should be a space that helps them tap into that resilience in a peaceful, supportive environment.
What sets my practice apart is our commitment to reducing barriers to care, making therapy more accessible while maintaining excellence in the services we provide. I’m also incredibly proud of my partnerships with the nonprofit organization focused on prison reform. Together, we work to decrease recidivism and support individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated as they reintegrate into their communities.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a space that embodies compassion, inclusivity, and genuine quality care where every person feels seen, valued, and empowered to heal
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I think that’s all!
