Hi Levarine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2019, about a year after your mother passed away in, you were struggling with grief. A friend suggested Reiki, which I was initially skeptical about as a Christian. I prayed for protection and went anyway—and the experience was transformational in helping me process my grief. I eventually took classes to learn it for myself because it was so effective. I discovered how to blend my Christian faith with Reiki practice, seeing it as a spiritual tool and vessel for God’s healing work. I now operate R&R Holistic Healing Services, combining my therapy background with Reiki and other healing modalities, while also working as a Mental Health Therapist.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve dealt with a lot of struggles along the way.
Growing up, even though I had a loving family and my dad was a minister, I still experienced trauma. I was in and out of therapy starting at 21 when I hit a crisis point with suicidal thoughts. That wasn’t easy—I was working three jobs, had just had a baby, and I was drowning. Getting help was necessary, but it was humbling.
Then losing my mom was one of the hardest things I’ve gone through. We were very close, and I didn’t really process it at first—I just went back to work the next day. But eventually I broke down and was off work for a month just trying to grieve. That’s actually what led me to Reiki in the first place.
And honestly, one of the biggest struggles is fear and judgment. People have told me that what I do isn’t of God, that it’s evil. That’s hard to hear, even though I know in my heart that God called me to do this work. I’m working through that fear of being judged, especially by other believers.
But I’m learning that my relationship with God is between me and Him, not between me and everyone else’s opinions. I’m still healing in layers—like peeling back an onion—and I’m okay with that. The struggles have actually deepened my faith and my understanding of who God is and what He’s calling me to do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
R&R Holistic Healing Services is centered on Reiki energy healing and spiritual healing work. What sets me apart is that I integrate my Christian faith into the practice—I’m transparent about my spirituality and willing to work with both believers and non-believers. I’m known for helping people articulate what they’ve been struggling to express, offering both in-person and distance sessions, and making healing accessible through flexible payment and bartering options. I’m proud of showing up authentically in my calling despite my fears of judgment from the religious community, and I want people to know that healing takes many forms. Whether someone is in crisis or simply seeking alignment of mind, body, and soul, I’m here as a vessel to facilitate transformation—the real work happens between them and God.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice would be to stay connected to people who are doing meaningful work and be open to learning from them. When someone recommends something to you or offers to teach you, lean into that. Don’t dismiss it just because it’s unfamiliar or because you’re skeptical—pray on it, ask God to guide you, and if you feel led, explore it. Networking for me has been organic. It’s been through genuine relationships and word-of-mouth. People trust people they know and people they feel are authentic. So my advice is to be real with people, show up as yourself, and do your work with integrity. When you’re living your purpose and helping others, people naturally want to support you and refer you to others.
