Hi Deborah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Puerto Rican educator, speaker, author, and certified pastoral counselor. My greatest passion is to empower women, inspire them to recognize their worth, and help them live with purpose.
After major changes on our island, my family and I decided to broaden our horizons and begin a new chapter in the United States. This step marked a turning point in my life. As I became involved with the Hispanic community, I discovered a deep need among many women: the lack of self-love, the struggle to recognize their identity and value, and the longing to heal their inner being.
Out of that experience, Empoderadas en Cristo Oficial was born. It is a ministry dedicated to motivating, inspiring, and guiding women in faith so they can discover their purpose and reach their full potential. This ministry has become a space for women to grow spiritually and personally, reminding them that they are not alone and that their true worth comes from God.
My passion for sharing messages of hope later led me to write the book “Florece en tu desierto,” which invites readers to discover the beauty and growth hidden within life’s challenges. This project began in Texas, and later, when I returned to Puerto Rico, I was blessed to continue sharing uplifting messages through radio segments designed to inspire women.
I now live in Mason, Ohio, where I have the opportunity to serve in my church’s ministry, supporting the Hispanic community in different ways. I was also honored to participate in the event “Latin American Change the World with the New Invention,” where we celebrated influential and inspiring Hispanics from diverse fields.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of connecting with women from many parts of the world, both through conferences and social media. Every story, testimony, and encounter has been a seed of transformation that encourages me to continue this mission of faith and purpose.
I have faced health challenges and difficult seasons that have taught me the true meaning of resilience and the importance of never giving up. Today, I look back with gratitude, knowing that every experience has been part of God’s purpose for my life and has strengthened my calling to serve, inspire, and uplift others.
My greatest desire is to continue being an instrument of hope and encouragement for women, reminding them that even in the middle of the desert, they can bloom and shine with the light God has placed within them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Facing so many challenges taught me that the only real limits are the ones we place on ourselves. Moving to a new country meant adapting to a new language, different customs and cultures, and missing the warmth and joy of our Caribbean island. It was a significant challenge.
At first, I doubted myself. I didn’t believe I could write and become an author, nor did I think I could motivate and inspire other women to keep moving forward despite their fears and pursue their dreams. There were moments when I felt afraid and questioned whether I was truly ready for this calling.
Over time, I realized that everything we experience has a purpose. Every difficulty and every fear is an opportunity to grow, learn, and prepare ourselves to serve others from the heart. I learned that it is possible to move forward even amid fear, and that faith and determination allow us to overcome any obstacle without stopping.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work through my ministry on social media, women’s conferences, and as an author. It is a great honor for me to plant a seed in every Hispanic woman that sparks positive change in her life, helps her reach her full potential, and empowers her to make a meaningful impact in her community.
I am passionate about serving, collaborating, and helping others without expecting anything in return. I love sharing my experiences with each Hispanic woman and being part of the growth and transformation of their stories and lives.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is watching my parents help those in need in different situations, always without expecting anything in return. My mother encouraged other women to be resilient and keep moving forward, while my father helped anyone who asked for support, no matter what they needed.
From a very young age, I learned that the act of giving is a true blessing, and that often, the kindness we offer comes back to us in meaningful and rewarding ways.
