Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Halasinski.
Hi Brian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Brian Halasinski – President Kirk Hyust – Vice President
Kirk and I have been inventing partners for 7 years. I met Kirk when I moved into my house in 2016. He was referred to me by a friend and end up working on my project for six months. During this time, Kirk was working his own invention, the Kirk Wrench. I became very interested in the whole idea of inventing and licensing. For Christmas that year, Kirk bought me the book One Simple Idea by Stephen Key. Once I read this book, I was hooked on inventing. Since then, Kirk and I have developed four BBQ/cooking products and two pet products. We have successfully licensed two products. We also had a successful Kickstarter in 2018 for a product called Smoke Staxx Pans. Finally, on November 1st we launched Turbo Trusser.
The Turbo Trusser was created to make it easier for cooks of any skill level to perfect the art of cooking the perfect chicken or turkey. Brian Halasinski and Kirk Hyust invented the Turbo Trusser after being tired of dealing with difficult-to-use butchers’ twine, but not wanting a dry bird. We realized the need for an easier way to truss a chicken or turkey from our own experiences. After more than a dozen prototypes, we finally figured out the best way to help people master the skill of cooking the perfect chicken or turkey without the mess of butcher’s twin.
Brian and Kirk of Turbo Trusser made a successful appearance on Shark Tank in 2022, securing a deal with Kevin O’Leary, also known as “Chef Wonderful.” Since airing on Shark Tank, the Turbo Trusser has been featured on Good Morning America, CBS, and QVC.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the early stages of Turbo Trusser, our challenges typically revolved around establishing a customer base, securing sufficient funding, and building a brand presence. Marketing and competition can be fierce, and it can be difficult to differentiate yourself. Additionally, operational issues like managing expenses and learning how to advertise often came into play. The ability to adapt to unexpected obstacles and staying committed to our vision are key in overcoming these initial hurdles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

Since then, the two have become friends and inventing partners.
Kirk Hyust was born in Canton, Ohio. He is a chef and was trained at the Culinary Institute of America. After getting burnt out in the restaurant business he started in the construction industry and has been a building contractor for the last 20 years. Until recently, he was also a product development and licensing coach at InventRight where he helped fellow inventors and worked directly with his mentor Stephen Key. In his spare time, he likes to travel and go fishing.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For the Turbo Trusser, success can be linked to rapid growth and scalability, marked by increasing customer acquisition, revenue generation, and market penetration.
Building a strong and dedicated team, as well as establishing a major retail presence is also crucial for our sustained growth and success.
Ultimately, success for our company is a dynamic blend of financial sustainability, innovation, and the ability to make a meaningful contribution to its target market, all while adapting to the evolving business landscape.
