Rising Stars: Meet The End At Last of Dayton

Today we’d like to introduce you to The End At Last

Hi The End At Last, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The End At Last was formed in 2022 by Nate VanBuskirk, Parker Buhrman, and Vinny Anderson, who met at the Copeland fitness center. Quickly bonding over their mutual love for metalcore and hardcore music, they began exploring the idea of forming a metal band. Given Nate’s seven years of experience writing and producing Synthwave music under the name of Decade Defector and Parker’s guitar playing experience, the trio felt confident in their ability to start writing and producing music.

Their journey began with a cover of “Sweet Dreams,” which became a valuable learning experience, shaping their approach to writing and producing original songs. While working on this cover, Vinny reached out to his friend Alex Watson in Indiana to see if he would be interested in joining the band. Alex, who shared the band’s passion for metalcore and hardcore music, was quickly brought in as the new guitarist for The End At Last.

Initially, the drum tracks were either programmed by Nate or contributed by his good friend Cory Carmean, a former drummer for a touring metal band. However, after releasing their cover, the band recognized the need for a dedicated drummer. By sheer luck, Vinny discovered Christian Enochs, who also worked at Copeland. After meeting for drinks at Submarine House, they invited Christian to join as the band’s drummer, solidifying their lineup.

Shortly thereafter, Vinny made the difficult decision to leave the band for personal reasons. There are no hard feelings, and the band members continue to maintain a strong friendship.

Over the next two years, The End At Last devoted themselves to writing and producing their debut self-titled EP. Transitioning from solo artists to a collaborative songwriting team presented its challenges, but the experience ultimately strengthened their bond and enhanced their understanding of how to work together effectively. Despite the ups and downs along the way, the band is thrilled with the final result of their debut EP!

As they look to the future, the band is eager to perform live shows while continuing to write and produce new music. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to their friends and families for their support and encouragement throughout this journey.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our biggest challenge has been finding a time when all four of us can get together to practice or work on new music. With our busy lives, it’s often tough to carve out enough time for collaboration. When we first started writing together, we would cram into my tiny home studio, but that often turned into more of a brainstorming session than actual music-making. To make things easier, we’ve switched to using Google Drive to collaborate on our music. Everyone contributes their parts, and I handle the production and mixing from there. We also keep a group chat going to stay updated on the writing process and to make sure everyone knows what needs to be done to keep our projects moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Outside of the band, the four of us all have full time professional careers.

I (Nate VanBuskirk) am a Senior Project Engineer at Copeland (HVACR Compressor Manufacturer).
I have a BSME degree from Wright State University and an MBA degree from Northern Kentucky University.

Parker is a Product Manager at Midmark (Medical Equipment Design/Manufacturing) and a Realtor.
Parker has a Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts degree from Wright State University.

Christian is an IT Systems Analyst at Copeland.
Christian is currently pursing a degree in Interactive Media with an emphasis on programming and web development

And Alex… Alex won’t let me say anymore. It’s top secret!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, all of us had an interest in music, whether it be attending concerts or trying to create music ourselves.

Outside of music, I (Nate) was obsessed with skateboarding. For the longest time all I wanted to be was a professional skateboarder. I would say I was a hybrid between a jock and a skater in high school. I played varsity soccer but always ended up skating some street spot in the dead of night with my close friends.

Parker was also a hybrid between a jock and a skater. He played football in high school and I believe holds a school record (don’t hold me to that). In his words, Parker was the worst of the good kids and the best of the bad kids.

Alex’s childhood is mostly top secret but I can tell you that he has always had a deep passion for music and creative pursuits.

Growing up, Christian was heavily involved with music and sports. He played basketball, baseball, and football. However, music was his primary interest as he participated in marching band, concert band, and pep band throughout high school. He is also an avid gamer.

Personality wise, we are all pretty easygoing and can get along with pretty much anyone. Just don’t mention metal around us after a few beers unless you want to take part in a lengthy debate of it’s bands and numerous genres.
