Rising Stars: Meet Rosie Santiago of Cleveland Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Santiago.

Hi Rosie , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been a wordsmith ever since kindergarten doing poetry and entering poetry slams! At 14 I performed at the Cleveland agora then after that I took a little break to focus on school. I returned to music in 2021 and I’ve been making waves ever since! Today I am a 2 time best lyricist of the year nominee, Only have 4 music videos out and they have reached a total of 19,000+ views with my most recent video Aye Okay hitting a thousand in under 72 hours!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all! I have had some people give me a hard no with performing or opportunities, people saying they’ll do this and that and not keep a word. Had “promoters” scam me, people not giving me a chance so the only thing for me to do was to make them notice me and make them see that I was somebody they NEEDED on the show and songs!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My name is Rosie Santiago, I am a music artist from Cleveland, Ohio. I’m known for always bringing the energy on stage and having unforgiving and unforgettable lyrics from time to time, im also known for always taking chances. I specialize in hip hop, alternative and trap music. What I’m most proud of is never stopping no matter what anybody has said or what was put in front of me. I’m most proud of being a 2x award nominee because that’s something nobody can take away from me. What sets me apart from others is I’m not your average rapper or music artist. I thrive and I’m comfortable with being uncomfortable and I think that’s what has made me get better with each song, each performance! It’s not the same sound each time, maybe you’ll get dark melodic or maybe you’ll get just straight chaotic bars. I have to keep the listener on their toes!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ll say 50/50. There’s been times where I haven’t really gotten anything done because life has gotten in the way or when I felt like I was supposed to get something or win something it just wasn’t in the cards not only with music but in life in general. I’ve always felt like luck and I have a love hate relationship. But I will say when I need it the most it comes through for me.
