Rising Stars: Meet Nick Tirey of Cincinnati, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Tirey.

Nick Tirey

Hi Nick, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
That Arena Rock Show was built out of the love and passion for 80’s rock music. We wanted to create something that sounded great but also put on a show like the pros did in their hey day. Something that could really transport people back in time and leave them with a smile on their face.

We’ve been going at it for going on 7 years. It’s been growing every year and has turned into quite a successful business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? No! I’m not sure anything that is worth it is easy. If we would have given up after the first “challenge” we would have disbanded a long time ago. You’re going to come across bumps in the road. You just have to keep going. To quote a Johnny Cash song “Drive On, It don’t mean nothin, It don’t mean nothin, Drive On”.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an entertainer. I’ve always loved the thought of entertaining a crowd. It’s something I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a kid. I’ve played in bands since I was 16 years old. At 35 it has become my full time job. I’m blessed. I’m a guitarist in the band. I also created all of the video visuals that go to our show. I handle the business side of the band and do a lot of the bookings.

Something im most proud of is the fact that this product helps people. Life is tough. The world is divided like never before. To be able to stand on a stage with my friends and create unity for a couple hours is amazing. To watch people sing, dance, smile and just be happy for a couple hours is the best job anyone could ever ask for.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I learned that everything you work very hard for can be gone just like that. We had a very exciting year booked in 2020 that was taken away from us very quickly. I learned to never take things for granted and to live in the moment.

At the time of Covid I had a full time job on top of the band. During this time I learned that I didn’t love what I did every day. And 9 hours a day doing something you don’t love is huge waste of time. Once things started opening back up after Covid, it was a goal to make the band my full time job. Or at least take on jobs that gave me joy. It’s a completely different quality of life when you love what you do everyday.

Since then I have opened up my own screen printing business. I also help venues with marketing and running ads. I am genuinely excited to take on each day.
