Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Sheppard.
Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into photography and videography began in high school when I joined our school’s media team. I started by covering school events, sports, and activities, and I quickly realized how much I enjoyed capturing moments that people could look back on for years to come. That experience sparked a passion and gave me the foundation to continue learning outside of school.
After graduating, I invested more time into improving my skills, building my portfolio, and eventually launching Forsuretheone Productions as a proper business. What started as a hobby gradually turned into a business as more people began reaching out for portraits, events, weddings, and commercial work.
Building the business hasn’t happened overnight. I’ve continued working a full-time job while growing the company, constantly learning new techniques, improving my client experience, and investing in better equipment. Every session and every project has helped me become a better photographer, videographer, and business owner.
Today, Forsuretheone Productions works with both personal and corporate clients to create photos and videos that tell meaningful stories. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how something that started with a camera on my high school’s media team has grown into a business that allows me to do what I love while serving people throughout Ohio and beyond.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, one of the biggest challenges has been balancing my full-time job while growing a business on the side. There have been late nights editing, and weekends spent photographing events instead of relaxing.
Another challenge has been building a client base and getting my name out there as photography and videography is a very competitive industry. Photography isn’t just about taking great photos it’s also about marketing, networking, providing excellent customer service, and continuously adapting to new technology and trends. Learning the business side has been just as important as learning the creative side. So we continually adapt with the changing times to continually find more clients to serve
There have also been times when I’ve had to make significant investments in equipment, software, and education before seeing a return. While those decisions weren’t always easy, they’ve allowed me to improve the quality of my work and create a better experience for my clients.
Looking back, every challenge has helped shape both me and my business. Each obstacle has taught me something new and pushed me to become a better business owner.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Forsuretheone Productions, we provide photography and videography services for a wide range of clients, for weddings, portraits, corporate events, branding, commercial projects, and community events. My goal is to create images and videos that not only look great but also tell a story and capture genuine moments.
One thing I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients. Every person who works with me I work to get to know them so they feel comfortable, valued, and confident throughout the entire process. We walk our clients through each step of the process explaining and confirming how things will run to best suit them. Creating a great client experience is just as important to me as delivering high-quality work.
I think what sets me apart is my willingness to go beyond simply showing up for my clients beyond just the work, I often keep up personal relationships will a lot of my clients and gain a genuine connection with them.
At the end of the day, I’m most proud of turning a passion that started on my high school’s media team into a growing business that allows me to help people preserve some of their most important moments in people’s lives.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe that risk is a very important part of running a business, in fact for most people even just starting the business itself can be a risk. It takes a lot from you, you have to input a lot of time, and effort to make it work but should you keep up consistently it often pays off way more than you put in.
When starting Forsuretheone Productions it was a major risk for me, starting a business around photography and video is not cheap. You have to invest in cameras, microphones, lights, tripods, insurance and more. I started this company as someone just graduating from highschool so I did not have a lot to spare but I took the chance and started investing all the money I could spare into it, and I would say it has been so worth it to take the risk I have, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
