Rising Stars: Meet Marvin Butts of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvin Butts.

Hi Marvin , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started in 1988 as a bodygaurd to Soul Trains Don Cornelius. That prompted me to then get in to the Chauffeured transportation and Auto Detailing industries. I then used my business platforms to raise money from my clients across the businesses to start the Butts Family Foundation a 501(c)3 to give back and educate struggling families across Cincinnati’s 52 neighborhoods

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes like with any industry business fluctuates with the economy, with political protests pandemics with the latter 2 issues actually having us shut down for periodsof time. Covid almost 7 months…but as a 38 year old business…We never gave up.

The Butts Family Foundation is the passion for people. My 501(c)3. We educate struggling famility about preventative health, warning signs, mentor at risk youth, provide meals, school uniform assistance and back to school supplies, scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Daytrips for the elderly and partnerships with schools, police, fire sheriffs, and the American Cancer Society.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My right hand…my worker bee the Director of Operations who makes everything run flawless…Tabatha L Anderson.

She runs the day to day of all businesses and the foundation.
Marketing, bookkeeping, graphic artists, advocate, secretary, youth mentor, taught me public speaking with and without, does all filing, creates websites, and manages our 4 social media pages and pushes me everyday to be better. Organizes events and fundraisers designs and prints tickets…and more. Would still exist without her.
