Rising Stars: Meet Kathrine & Megan Fitzgerald of Newark Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathrine & Megan Fitzgerald.

Hi Kathrine & Megan , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the hair industry began with a simple love for creativity and connection. What started as an interest in hair quickly became a calling, one that blended artistry, intuition, and human connection in a way nothing else ever had. From the very beginning, I was drawn not just to transforming hair, but to the way those transformations made people feel.

Over the years, that passion deepened. With more than a decade behind the chair, 14 years in , I’ve learned that hair is never just hair. It’s confidence before a big moment, comfort during a hard season, self-expression, healing, and joy. Every guest brings a story, and it’s an honor to be trusted with something so personal. I’ve always believed that listening is just as important as technique and that the salon chair can be a place of both beauty and belonging.

As my career evolved, so did my purpose. I grew not only as a stylist, but as a business owner, leader, and lifelong student of the craft. Education, intention, and heart have guided every step along with a deep respect for this industry and the people in it. Owning a salon isn’t just about creating beautiful hair; it’s about creating a space where clients feel seen, stylists feel supported, and creativity can thrive.

Today, I’m grateful to do work that feeds my soul every day. My love for hair is inseparable from my love for people, and that connection is at the core of everything I do. This industry has shaped me, challenged me, and given me endless purpose and I’m proud to continue growing, learning, and creating beauty

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey in the hair industry hasn’t been a straight line it’s been built through trial, resilience, and a deep love for people. I entered this industry with passion and big dreams, but like many creatives, I quickly learned that talent alone isn’t enough. There were long days, self-doubt, financial stress, and moments where quitting felt easier than pushing forward. I had to learn everything the hard way through mistakes, burnout, and rebuilding.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work is rooted in intentional, high-level hair artistry, with a strong focus on custom color and advanced extension methods. I specialize in creating seamless, dimensional blondes and lived-in color that looks effortless but is deeply technical hair that grows out beautifully and feels true to the person wearing it. Color, to me, is about balance and precision: tone, placement, and blend all working together to enhance someone’s natural features and lifestyle.

I’m also known for my advanced extension work, particularly for my ability to create invisible, lightweight installs with incredible blends. Extensions aren’t about excess they’re about refinement. I focus on hair health, strategic placement, and customization so the final result feels natural, comfortable, and truly undetectable. Whether it’s adding fullness, length, or confidence, the goal is always hair that moves, lives, and wears like your own.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Many of my guests come to me after being disappointed elsewhere, and being able to restore both their hair and their confidence is incredibly meaningful. I’m proud of building a career and a salon based on integrity, education, and long-term results rather than quick fixes or trends.

What sets me apart is my approach. I work with intention, patience, and a deep respect for hair as both a craft and a responsibility. I take the time to listen, to educate, and to customize every service. My work isn’t just about creating beautiful hair it’s about creating an experience where clients feel seen, safe, and confident walking out of my chair.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
