Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Pavlak.
Hi Jenny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography business as a new mom with a camera, capturing the sweet, fleeting moments of friends welcoming their babies. Before photography, I was a teacher, but when I became a mother, I knew I was called to stay home and pour into my family during those early years. As I prayed about what the Lord was calling me to do next, my heart kept returning to storytelling—preserving the moments that matter most. What began in the cozy corners of people’s homes grew alongside my own family, and when we built our home, I created a studio designed to feel warm, peaceful, and inviting. Today, I specialize in newborn photography and love walking alongside families as they return year after year, documenting milestones and watching tiny newborns grow into big personalities. Through a curated client closet, milestone sessions, and seasonal mini sessions, my goal is to serve families with intention capturing each beautiful season they are in.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a business while raising three young children came with many challenges—balancing nap schedules with session times, late nights of editing after bedtime, and learning to give myself grace in busy seasons. Finding time to schedule sessions around family life wasn’t always easy, and learning the business side of photography—from pricing and workflows to marketing and client communication—was a steep learning curve. But each challenge helped shape the business into what it is today, teaching me resilience, flexibility, and the importance of building a business that supports both my family and the families I serve.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a family and newborn photographer who specializes in capturing the earliest days of life and the milestones that follow. My work is rooted in storytelling—documenting families in a way that feels natural, meaningful, and timeless. I’m best known for my newborn photography and for creating a calm, welcoming experience that allows parents to slow down and simply enjoy this fleeting season. I also offer milestone sessions, seasonal mini sessions, and a thoughtfully curated client closet to make the process easier and more comfortable for families.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships built over time. Many of my clients return year after year, trusting me to document multiple babies and stages of life. Being invited back into families’ stories is something I never take lightly.
What sets me apart is my heart for legacy and intentionality. As a former teacher and a mother of three, I understand how quickly time passes and how important it is to preserve these moments. I’ve prayerfully built my business to serve families well—creating an experience that is not rushed, not transactional, and deeply personal. My goal is for every family to leave feeling seen, cared for, and confident that their story has been beautifully preserved.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the best pieces of advice I can give is to be intentional and humble when seeking mentorship and community. Early on, I learned that mentors don’t always come in formal roles—sometimes they’re fellow photographers, business owners, or people a season or two ahead of you who are willing to share honestly.
Attending workshops was also a huge part of my growth. Workshops provided not only education, but face-to-face connection—opportunities to learn from experienced photographers, ask questions in real time, and build friendships with others walking a similar path. Many of my most meaningful connections came from simply showing up in those spaces and being willing to learn.
Most importantly, I’ve prayed for wisdom and discernment—asking the Lord to place the right people in my path at the right time. Trusting that timing and staying open to growth has made all the difference.
