Rising Stars: Meet Eric Fossett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Fossett.

Hi Eric, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, I can say my journey started at age 5 I fell in love with hair by watching family members create. My curiosity grew I asked my mom to purchase me a manikin, and after years of practicing, I knew that being a hair stylist was something I wanted to pursue as a career. I attended Douglas J Aveda Institute in Royal Oak Michigan where I received my cosmetology license. I have been a licensed professional for over 10 years working in cities like Atlanta, New York, LA just to name a few. I have accomplished a lot over the last 10 years of my career by working on commercials, New York fashion week, video shoots, and working on television and film hair projects.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would definitely say it has not been a smooth road at all; losing a lot of family members along my journey was probably one of the hardest things to deal with; it’s hard staying focus when people are constantly transitioning.

I would also say getting rejected from opportunities that I wanted is hard. But you have to stay consistent; it’s OK to get rejected; it makes you work harder

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am Hairography… I am a professional hairstylist who is also a professional dancer. I specialize in making people’s hair move along with their body with Dance, I teach a heels class also called hairography and Heels

I would say I’m known for being a one-stop shop. I’m going to make your hair beautiful, I’m going to make you laugh, and I’m gonna teach you some dance moves.

I’m most proud of my work ethic. I want what I want out of life I believe that I deserve everything, and I don’t take no for an answer.

I believe what sets me apart from others my personality; it’s very vibrant, I am very honest; I would say my look sets me apart; I love dramatic hair, and that’s my vibe

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Always be kind, work hard, be yourself all the time, don’t be afraid to take a risk; success looks different for everyone; don’t compare your success to what you see on social media
