Rising Stars: Meet Cindy Willi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Willi. 

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This year marks 20 years of being an artist in the hair industry. I started out at the Lorain County J.V.S. & graduated in 2002. I knew from the time I was a little girl that this was my calling, my grandma was a hairdresser & I looked up to her so much. I worked much of my career in a small-town salon where I perfected my skills & in 2018 took a leap to join the team at Ulta Beauty Salon. Shortly after joining the team, I participated in a Matrix hair color contest thru Ulta & got selected out of over 800 entries & won an amazing trip to Orlando for an incredible experience at the beauty convention known as Matrix Destination. I am so thankful for the opportunities that Ulta has provided & the next part of my journey will be opening my own Salon Loft. This industry has blessed me along my path & I’m very grateful for being able to share my artistry & passion with my valued guests. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road along my journey. We saw challenges in the salon in 2008 when the economy took a dive it really affected business as well as working thru the pandemic. Salons closed March 15-May 15 in 2020 & those were tough times. Overall, I’m thankful for my customers always being so understanding and supportive thru all these changes. During the pandemic, I had a guest continue to pay me what she would have as if we were still open. It’s the clients in my life that have kept me sustained in business & I’m very blessed. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for bright fantasy hair color, hair extensions & I’m very skilled at hair cutting as well. What sets me apart is that I always make the best choices possible for my guests & the health of their hair. I also value their time & do not take guests in between services to give the best quality experience. 

What matters most to you? Why?
Above all my family & personal connections are most important to me.
