Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Summers.
Hi Christopher, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got into DJing because I’ve always been drawn to music and the energy it creates. Early on, it was just about mixing songs and getting people to react—but the more events I did, the more I realized it was about something bigger than that.
I started to pay attention to the flow of the entire event—how moments connect, how timing affects energy, and how the right song at the right time can completely change the atmosphere. That’s what naturally led me into weddings, where every moment carries weight and meaning.
As I continued growing, I built DJ iShine into a brand that couples could trust, earning over 250 five-star reviews and working with a wide range of events. Along the way, I also learned that my best work happens when I can be fully focused and intentional with each client.
That’s what led me to shift into a more refined, signature approach—focusing on creating personalized, well-orchestrated experiences rather than trying to scale into a large team. It allows me to stay present, collaborative, and deliver at a high level every time.
Today, my goal is simple: to create an experience where everything feels seamless, the energy feels right, and people can truly be in the moment.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road.
Like most creative businesses, there were a lot of trial-and-error seasons early on—figuring out pricing, attracting the right clients, and learning how to stand out in a crowded market. There were times where I was saying yes to everything, trying to do too much, and stretching myself thin just to keep momentum going.
One of the bigger challenges was realizing that growth isn’t just about getting more bookings—it’s about building something sustainable and aligned with how you actually want to work. That meant stepping back, refining my process, and even restructuring my business model.
Transitioning from a volume-based approach to a more focused, signature experience wasn’t the easiest decision either. There’s always some risk in changing what’s already working. But I knew that if I wanted to deliver at a higher level and enjoy the work long-term, I needed to make that shift.
There have also been real-world challenges—things like equipment issues, long hours, and the behind-the-scenes pressure that comes with being responsible for once-in-a-lifetime events.
But overall, those experiences helped me get clearer on my standards, my process, and the type of experience I want to create. Looking back, the challenges were necessary—they shaped how I operate today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a wedding and event DJ specializing in creating seamless, high-energy experiences that feel both intentional and personal. My role goes beyond just playing music—I focus on the full flow of the event, from the timeline and transitions to how each moment feels for both the couple and their guests.
I’m known for my ability to read the room, mix live in a way that keeps energy consistent, and guide events in a way that feels natural—not forced or overly scripted. A big part of what I do is helping couples feel confident and taken care of so they can actually enjoy their day instead of worrying about what’s happening next.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients. I’ve earned over 100 five-star reviews, and a lot of that comes from being consistent, professional, and delivering on what I promise every time.
What sets me apart is how focused and intentional my approach is. I don’t try to offer everything or wear multiple hats—I stay in my lane and put all of my energy into the music, the flow, and the overall experience. I’ve also moved toward a more personalized, signature model, which allows me to collaborate more closely with each client and deliver at a higher level.
At the end of the day, I’m not just there to play songs—I’m there to help create an experience that feels effortless, memorable, and true to each couple.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that might surprise people is how much of my work happens before the event even begins.
A lot of people see the performance side—the music, the energy, the packed dance floor—but what they don’t see is the level of planning and intention that goes into it. I spend a lot of time working through timelines, understanding the couple’s vision, and thinking through how each moment should feel and transition.
By the time I show up, a lot of the magic has already been designed—it just looks effortless in the moment.
