Rising Stars: Meet BreAuna Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to BreAuna Campbell.

Hi BreAuna, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry but I didn’t exactly know how. It started with just creative eye shadow or edgy lipstick, before you know it, I had a suitcase full of inspiration. I saw makeup as a way to exercise my creativity but also utilize my business knowledge. I’ve been in love ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Before I started doing makeup and lashes, I tried a lot of different things that didn’t work. In 2018 I wanted to be a model I walked in some shows and made a lot of connections, but it wasn’t for me. In 2019 I got hired to be a brand ambassador. I got to write some cool blogs, I also did some pop-up shops and took data, but I knew I wanted more. That meant putting myself out there again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
When I started doing makeup, I just wanted to freelance you know? be “booked and busy”. I went to esthetics school and my passions expanded into other services. I specialize in makeup, facials, and lashes and I’ll be releasing my own beauty products soon. I’ve had opportunities to do makeup on set for some local popular brands, work at a movie studio, and recently started the sale of my handmade strip lashes in-store.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Well, I wouldn’t really consider myself risky. For me putting myself out there is risky and out of my normal. One booking I was on set for a music video and I wanted to do the rappers makeup so bad, I did several faces and I finally built the courage to ask the rapper/comedian when she was ready for her slot, her makeup was done. She told me she does her own makeup, just her. Not in a mean way but definitely not what I wanted to hear
