Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Dela Rosa.
Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My creative journey really began when I met my now husband.
Keith is a cinematographer; I had reached out to him about a promo video for my business; one thing led to another, and once we started dating, I would tag along to his video shoots and take behind the scenes. I started to get really familiar with the camera, showing off my work online, and that’s when people started to reach out to me about shooting their photos. That snowballed into many more shoots, and I eventually had to get my own camera gear, and I took off running!
Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to shoot food photography for several well-known restaurants in downtown Cleveland, product shoots for brands all over the U.S., The Arnold Sports Festival, weddings, proposals and engagements, fundraising events, family photos, newborn photos, and so much more. I have also done my fair share of creative direction, where I plan out a shoot from start to finish, hire the models, coordinate all details, write out the short list, and execute to my client’s standards. Lately, I have been holding workshops for businesses that need updated headshots or lifestyle content, which is a great way to network with an incredible range of people! I really enjoy the wide range of work that I am involved in.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a “smooth road”… I have struggled a lot with “Imposter Syndrome,” where I just felt like, “Do I really deserve this opportunity? Should I charge this much? Is my work good enough?” but I can confidently say that I didn’t let that hold me back.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear many hats, always have, always will. I get bored easily! So, I don’t have a “niche” or a “specialty”… But before I ever got behind the camera, I always enjoyed being in front of the camera so I really know how it feels to be on the other side. My biggest accomplishment is making people feel confident when I am taking their photos and when they get the final product. I feel very strongly about my ability to guide people, hype them up, and deliver the best photos, even if it’s just a basic headshot. I love getting feedback from my clients about how much they love their photos when they usually never do. I feel that the way I communicate with my clients sets me apart from others, as well as having the ability to give full creative direction from start to finish.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite book is “The Noticer” EVERYONE should read this book from age 18 to 80. It’s amazing.
