Hi Abbie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After working for big box retail stores for most of my adult life, I finally decided to start my own business & be my own boss. I started as a Mobile boutique in early 2017. By August of 2017, I had signed the lease of my very first Brick & Mortar store in Port Clinton, OH. The expansion of my shops came quickly & my 2nd location opened early 2021 in Sandusky, Oh. My 3rd store, Lakelynn Littles & Home was born in Spring of 2022. This store became a business plan after years of customers requesting boutique children’s apparel & accessories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s no such thing as a smooth road for anyone. I endured some serious struggles during the initial outbreak of Covid. I wasn’t quite sure how I would make it through. I got creative really quick & wiped off my tears. I created a subscription box customers could purchase on our website since almost every business was closed during Covid. I would spend endless hours alone, putting these boxes together & safely delivering them to each door. Taking my kids with me, I would deliver these boxes to all customers in a 60-mile radius.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Giving back to my local community is extremely important for me. Growing up in a small family business since age 11, I got to see first-hand how community & small business need each other. It’s a cycle. The community needs small businesses to sponsor, fund, & give to the local schools, charities & local special events. The small businesses need the community to support them, so they are able to do just that. I am proud to say that I get to be a part of it. It’s one of my favorite things about being a small business owner. To help, to give, & to help make our community better & stronger.
