Meet Zechariah Scheiding of Scheiding Sports & Rehabilitative Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zechariah Scheiding.

Hi Zechariah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It started back in 2016 when I decided to go to massage school. I had previously been in the athletic training program at Wright State University but after having my daughter I needed cash faster. So, I applied to massage school and after a year and a month, I graduated from the Dayton School of Medical Massage. While I was there, I was reading a magazine and came across what’s called XPECORE Bodywork. It was a course based out of South Florida and while you took the course you got to work with college athletes that are working towards competing at the NFL Combine. So immediately I reached out and applied. After a few interviews, I was accepted into the program and took off for South Florida. After completing the course, I came back home, started a business but couldn’t get clients or a job. I was about to give up and go back to the glass factory where I had been working when one of my business emails paid off. I was dropping emails to pro football players if I could find them in hopes someone would get back. That day a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals contacted me and set a session up for the following day. From here I began working with a plethora of players from the Bengals. The word of mouth spread like crazy. After two seasons I was offered a position in Florida where I took my continuing education course. I was working with the lead chiropractor as well as helping athletes with their bodies. I worked with NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC, WBC, WNBA, FAU University, and many other high-level athletes. After a year my family decided to not renew the contract and move back to Cincinnati. When we returned back to Cincinnati I tried to pick up where I left off. The Bengals welcomed me back as they started to send players back to me, old Bengals clients came back around and before I knew it, I was off and running again. This time with more momentum than ever, I began getting clients, NFL players and eventually got a call from FC Cincinnati to be the team therapist. So, in two short years, we have over 600 clients, I am with the Bengals, FC Cincinnati, a local gym, and have the biggest NFL client I’ve ever landed. As we continue to grow and accomplish things it’s good to reflect on what you have accomplished but it’s also important to look forward and find new goals to achieve.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a difficult path to getting here. I had struggles not finding clients, a job, and felt like I was wasting my degree. I finally decided to get the motivation to contact people via email, phone, text, walk-in, anything. Pro athletes, doctors, big corps, chiropractors, surgeons, you name it. Just to get my name out there. It finally paid off and my business took off. I moved to Florida which was a blessing but one of the most difficult things to do with a family. Moving across the country and not deciding to stay was hard on the whole family. Then moving back, it was the same thing. More reaching out, reconnecting, and being determined to get back what I had. But the constant push to do better helped me overcome this obstacles as well my family. Knowing that my hard work will provide for them made me more determined when I came back to be my best and ultimately pushed me forward to achieve what I have so far…

We’ve been impressed with Scheiding Sports & Rehabilitative Massage LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a sports massage business that provides superior sports therapy for athletes and active individuals. We offer treatments like myofascial therapy, deep tissue massage, cupping, Graston, active releases, stretching, and more. We are specialized working with athletes and active persons but are not limited to desk jockeys and day-to-day workers. We all gain tension in some form so we don’t limit our clients to just active people. We are a place that treats your issues and conditions as a whole not just “the sore” areas. We work to release not only the “sore” areas but also the areas that will compensate and become tight due to the original pain source. We create tailor-made treatments to fit your body and issues perfectly. Making sure we treat not just the problem but anywhere else where that problem can cause pain, discomfort, or compensation.

We are proud of how much the community and pro teams trust our work. It’s an amazing feeling when you can not only help people with their pain but also be recognized for the hard work you do.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was also a class clown and outgoing kid. I wanted to play sports and become pro in something. I was interested in all sports, I really just loved competing. I broke my back in high school and this led to me not being able to play sports. That’s when I began getting a passion to help others stay healthy and on the playing field. I didn’t have much interest in school but did have a big love for history and eventually anatomy which would be handy later in life. I’ve always been someone who is looking to help others out.
