Today we’d like to introduce you to Yoshua Ramirez.
Hi Yoshua, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Getting to where I’m at has been nothing but difficult decisions, lots of commitment, and a huge ambition. In reality, I’d say that where I’m at is just the beginning of a spectacular adventure to achieving my dreams. Whoever follows my story and my journey will learn a lot along the way.
Hello, my name is Yoshua Ramirez; originally from Mexico and have been living in the USA for about ten years. I want to say it was the most complicated and best decision I had ever made when I decided to drop out of college finally. I’ll share how I arrived at that decision. During the time I attended, I completed five semesters at the University of Cincinnati, aiming for a degree in engineering.
When covid forced remote classes after my 3rd semester, things took a turn, and everything went online. My partner at the time was moving to Florida for a co-op, and I decided to go along and take online classes. I woke at 5 am and drove two hours almost every day for four months to drop off & pick up my partner from work. I had too much time on my hands, so I started listening to a successful podcast, which completely changed my perspective of how I see the world now.
When I turned 20, I decided to seek help and started to build my own business with the guidance of a success guru. I became very intrigued and loved setting everything up to launch the business. My partner questioned my decision, but I just had to keep going. I came back to Ohio for my 5th semester during the summer, and things started to become challenging. My partner was away, I had five classes, and I barely had time to work on my business.
Every day became more and more complex, and I was feeling unhappy about not being able to work on what I enjoyed the most, which was my new business adventure. Now I was seriously contemplating dropping out, but I knew I needed to have a plan. After much thought, I took a break semester to see how it felt not taking classes and focusing on anything and everything I wanted to do.
Skipping forward to the end of the break semester, I found and attended a real estate seminar a week before returning to college. That seminar opened my eyes to all the potential there was in it. After much learning & obstacles, I decided to go full-time into real estate, had a plan, and dropped out. I knew I would have to pour all my effort into this new path.
A few months later, my partner was no longer in the picture, and I decided to obtain my real estate license through another school. Six months later, with much effort and reading, I got my license and found a sponsoring brokerage. From the beginning, I have always been very excited that I can finally do something that can create a positive impact. I happily say that I have already helped a couple of delighted clients find a place they can now call home.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest challenges was what went around the decision to drop out of college. My parents coming from a college background were a little hesitant but fully supported my decision after sharing my plan. However, I was self-conscious about what people would think. I had to learn to change my mindset entirely if I wanted to follow my dreams.
Some colleagues & friends at the time could not comprehend my decision and would question it, trying to input fear and low confidence in my plan. After eight months of meditating on my decision and panning, I was no longer afraid and finally took action. I’m now passionate about books, have read over 25 self-growth books multiple times, and have been in the process of learning to invest, trade, buy, sell, budget, eat better, have self-discipline, and do other self-accomplishments.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Bilingual REALTOR. My work consists of helping people find a place they can call home. Not just any home, but a home they can look at any time of the day, and their eyes sparkle with the happiness of finally finding what they have been looking for. As well as easing the process of selling their home—at the same time, guiding them through the process.
I’m a full-time Realtor associated with a 1st Class Real Estate Precision brokerage branch located in Mason. I cover the areas of Cincinnati, Mason, West Chester, and everything in between up to Middletown. Available to assist in English and Spanish.
What do you think about luck?
I believe luck is something we create with decisions, effort, and experiences that lead to a moment and/or opportunity.
