Hi Tyler, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Mega Music DJ Service was originally founded in Coshocton, Ohio by my uncle, Trevor Griffith. Trevor was a full-time radio host who developed a passion for DJing back in high school. At just 17, he launched Mega Music DJ Service and built it from the ground up.
I started tagging along with him to events when I was 15, and it didn’t take long for me to develop the same love for DJing. Working side-by-side with Trevor, we provided entertainment for hundreds of events over the years. Those experiences shaped not only my skills, but also my understanding of professionalism, crowd engagement, and the importance of creating memorable moments.
In May of 2022, Trevor passed away unexpectedly. It was a devastating loss, but it also made me more determined than ever to continue the company in his honor. He had poured so much passion into Mega Music, and I felt a responsibility — and a genuine desire — to carry his legacy forward.
Living in Columbus since attending Ohio State, I relocated the company here as well. Today, after DJing hundreds of events myself, I focus on honoring the values Trevor instilled in me while bringing a fresh, professional, and modern approach to every celebration. Mega Music DJ Service is not just a business to me — it’s a tribute to where I came from and the person who taught me what it truly means to be a DJ.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely hasn’t always been smooth, but the challenges have shaped me into the DJ and business owner I am today.
The most difficult moment, without question, was losing my uncle Trevor in 2022. He wasn’t just the founder of Mega Music DJ Service — he was my mentor and the person who taught me everything about the craft. Stepping into the business without him was emotionally tough and came with a steep learning curve. I had to navigate grief while also making decisions about the future of the company and how to honor the standards he set.
Another challenge was relocating the business from Coshocton to Columbus. Moving into a larger, more competitive market meant rebuilding our presence from the ground up. I had to focus heavily on branding, networking, marketing, and proving myself to a new community of clients and venues.
On top of that, running a DJ service requires balancing performance, logistics, customer service, equipment maintenance, and business operations — often all at once. There were long nights, unexpected issues, and moments where I had to learn quickly and adapt.
But each challenge pushed me to grow. Those experiences strengthened my professionalism, sharpened my skills, and reinforced why I care so deeply about this work. They helped me take Mega Music DJ Service from a family legacy to a thriving, modern company I’m proud to carry forward.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, I’m focused on growing Mega Music DJ Service while maintaining the personalized, high-quality experience our clients expect. We have a great partnership with Creekside Event Center in Gahanna, and I’m excited to build similar relationships with more event centers around Columbus. Overall, I want to expand our reach, serve more celebrations, and continue bringing fresh, professional entertainment to every event.
