Meet Tom Dallis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Dallis.

Tom, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Before turning my attention to photography, I was a documentary film producer for over 20 years. I now focus on wedding and engagement photography. I live in Morrow, Ohio with my wife Kathy.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The change from film to still photography had a slight challenge in that film is about capturing movement and still, photography is about capturing a moment. Like everyone, Covid had its challenges so 2021 was somewhat like starting over.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in wedding photography. However, I also do engagement, portrait, boudoir, and family photography. I love capturing special moments for people and telling their stories in a single shot.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
For me, photography is all about working with others. While I have poses and ideas for photography, I am always open to suggestions from both clients and fellow photographers.

I don’t feel as if I am competing with other wedding photographers, but want to learn from them as well teach others. We all have new things we can learn (that’s part of the fun of photography) and we all have things we can teach others (which is another part of the fun).
