Meet Terri Schuh of Detroit MI

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Schuh.

Hi Terri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started with my grandfather, who is a member of Gladys Knight & The Pips and his love for music rubbed on me. I started creating when I was about 13 years old when I first bought my guitar and started doing shows when I was 14. At the age 16, I started traveling and performing and won a few awards during college. After college, I started traveling again and performing at states like Seattle and other parts of Michigan being managed by my aunt Deborah Stubbs who is the daughter of Levi Stubbs from the Four Tops. After that I went solo for a while in 2021 and performed at Willis show bar. In 2024 I started a rock band.called SHÜ and it’s been going pretty well with them

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. This has been the most challenging couple of years. Me trying to find who I am musically for a long time realizing I was never meant to do Motown or R&B music. I was meant to make alternative/hard rock music. But the image of my grandfather haunted me and the lower tone of my voice, compliments, neosoul and R&B. So I understand the confusion

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work at Goldkine Cannabis as a cultivation worker! I’ve been in the cannabis industry for about 4 years now and I’ve been enjoying it!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Making other people happy. Cooking for others, I love to relax. When my band and I create something new. Working out definitely making me really happy.
