Meet Tasha Tomecko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Tomecko.

Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello! My name is Tasha Tomecko; everyone calls me Tash. I am a Marine Veteran born and raised from Saint Paul, Minnesota. I am 33 years old, wife + a mama to 3 that keep me on my toes. I started pursuing photography after my 4 years in the Corps. But before that as a child growing up, I was that little girl that always had a disposable camera in hand, snapping away every chance I had. My mother reminded me of that part of my childhood. Who knew I once again, I would pick a camera up and have it become a passion of mine. I am self-taught, and love my Nikon family! Before Ohio, my little family lived in California, where my business took off. I was that Mama that wanted to capture my babies only at first. Then friends and family started seeing my work, and they pushed me out the door to get my business going and take on clients. I was that scared, nervous wreck photographer. So, I slowly turtled my way into my photography business, and 10 years later, I am still in business and in love. I’ve met and worked with nothing but amazing souls! I love all my clients and pour my heart into all my work. Years down the road, I want my clients to look back at their photos and still be in awe and have all the memories rush back in as if it happened yesterday! I will always stay humble with my photography.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, a lot of bumps, but “Practice makes for improvement,” right! 10 years later, I am still learning. Right now, I am studying studio lighting, so I can be a well-rounded photographer. Moving from California and having that 12 months a year beautiful weather had me spoiled!!! So now for the winter months, I would love to dip into more studio work. I am self-taught, so in between current photoshoots, I am studying, on top of being a mama of 3. I always tell new photographers starting out, “Baby steps and practice, and you will get the hang of it and be successful!”.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a natural light lifestyle photographer. I have been rocking a camera in hand for about 10 years. My business name is Tasha Tomecko Photography. I know I am basic ha! My business is veteran owned. I served in the Marine Corps. for 4 years. The one thing that always reminds me I am doing a great job is when my client can’t stop boasting about their gallery! It puts a smile so big on my face, my cheeks hurt! If I asked my clients what sets me apart from others, it would be my personality. I treat everyone like how I would want to be treated. My photoshoots are laid back and just fun! By the end of it, my clients and I can’t stop laughing, and everyone says it always feels like they’ve known me forever! So, I am happy to know I can make someone that feels on edge and nervous just comfortable and relaxed. It’s like my superpower!

I love dipping my toes into any kind of photoshoot really, i.e., Lifestyle Newborn, children, Milestones babies, couples, family, micro weddings, elopements, birth+fresh 48, or just because!!!

With me living in Ohio now, I love to also travel and do photoshoots! So, if you like to travel and have fun let’s go!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would have to say my personality and kindness. “I treat everyone like how I would want to be treated.” Being a Marine, I also live by Semper FI! (Always faithful)
