Meet Tara Pierce of Troy, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Pierce.

Hi Tara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started cleaning homes in 2006. My husband cleaned a local office and the owner of it asked if I would be willing to clean his home because they were losing their house cleaner. At the time I had no idea how to clean, but I decided to give it a try. I learned so much and really enjoyed helping a family have a clean home. As word-of-mouth spread, I took on more clients. It is such a joy to provide a clean space for people whether it is their home or their office. Over time, I learned how to run a business and hired and trained a lot of people to help clients all over the Dayton area have clean homes and offices! In 2024 we opened up our pest control division and now we are helping people have pest free homes as well.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road at all! Most of the bumps were learning hire the right people and then make sure that employees felt valued and wanted to stay with the company. Once I learned how to do that the road got a whole lot smoother. Learning how to market our business in a way that it could be well known was also a learning curve.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I love most about our company is that Pink Power is a brand that brings a smile to your face- our logo is even a smiley face! We are a local company, and that means that my name is attached to the quality of work that we do. Because of that I strive to hire only the best to make sure we keep a great brand name. On the Cleaning side, we specialize in biweekly home cleaning and routine office cleaning. On the pest control side, we specialize in general pest preventative services, as well as bedbugs and cockroaches. We offer other services on both sides as well, but those are the main things that we do.
Another thing that I think sets us apart is it we love to be involved in the community. It’s common to see us in parades giving things out, and a portion of all revenue goes out to local charities – we love to support the community that we live in!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t think that luck, good or bad has played a role in the business. I think the successes and failures have come down to the decisions that we’ve made. Sure, there are outside factors that happen (Covid,ect) but I think it’s what we do with those things and how we learn from them that ultimately brings our successes and failures.
I will say that I do feel very blessed to live in a country that I was able to build a business that can thrive.
