Hi Sara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As a young girl, I moved & traveled a lot, I found myself starting over in new places quite often, In my early teen years that led to bouts of insecurity & concerns with body image. As I made my way through college, I started out photographing families, seniors, weddings, events, etc. I felt myself being drawn to portraiture, and found people to be the most amazing subjects. They were relatable in the act that so many people are hesitant to get in front of the camera. About 2-3 years ago I attended a photography conference & took a Boudoir workshop & fell in love!!! I was introduced to the genre with a focus on body positivity & female empowerment and that resonated strongly with me. I have been focusing on mainly Boudoir ever since!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My career has been a gift. I started out small and slow & have taken my time to get to know myself as an artist & a professional. The more I started to accept and encourage myself as a woman & a photographer, the more confident I became in the work that I do. I struggled mightily with my own body images & feelings of self worth & I wanted to be able to use those obstacles and experiences to better understand the women I am blessed to work with.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Boho Boudoir specializes in body positive, self empowering, intimate portraits. What sets me apart from other photographers is the luxury experience that I create. I spend months getting to know my clients, how they feel about themselves, & their ideas for our collaboration. I assist them with everything from wardrobe (we have an amazing client closet with sizes from 000-10X), hair and makeup, professional posing, & image presentation as well. I create a welcoming & safe environment to create beautiful images that my clients love! Everything is all done in one day from prep, session, & ordering. I also offer prepayment plans so that my experience is accessible to ALL women.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have been incredibly lucky to work with some of the most talented Photographers & business women & men from all over the world. I have found the local photography mantra “Community over competition” to be the most accurate. This area has one of the best learning and creative communities anyone could ask for. I also run a Women’s empowerment group on Facebook, Boho Beauties & that has honestly become my single biggest source of inspiration & support! The group was originally intended to be solely for my business but it has developed into something so much bigger. We are a community of over 600 women now, both local & national, who share inspiration, heartaches, love, & joy, every single day. Those ladies know how to lift anyone up if needed. They are my biggest cheerleaders too.
