Today we’d like to introduce you to Rochelle Cross.
Hi Rochelle , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in North East Ohio and moved to North Carolina to teach where I met Scott. Life brought us back to the Akron area in 2018 where we are raising our 3 children.
I have always had the desire to own my own business and have helped friends with their businesses.
We saw a Bricks & Minifigs in North Carolina while visiting family and thought it would be a perfect addition to Fairlawn.
As a former teacher I loved the event space that could hold birthday parties, camps, and community events. Scott was drawn to the older and retired sets, the kids loved the minifig maker and loose brick as the love to build creatively.
Our kids love for LEGO® brought back the joy of creating and building with LEGO® that I remembered from when I was a kid. Our children will build any set they have access to but love to come up with their own creations. I love that it allows their creativity to flourish.
I hope to create a place where the LEGO® community can come and build together. Where our family work together and meet other LEGO lovers and build a community in the Akron area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were a lot of struggles during the build out, from permitting to sourcing enough LEGO for grand opening.
This is our first business adventure so we did a lot of learning along the way. One day we hope to open a second business and we will use what we learned during this process on the next adventure.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own a LEGO buy, sell, trade franchise called Bricks & Minifigs. We are the 257th BAM Store in the US. We specialize in all things LEGO and LEGO products. We are known for having older retired LEGO sets. We also carry popular and rare Minifigs. We are a LEGO direct retailer so we carry new in box items.
I am most proud of the amazing staff that we have, they are friendly and knowledgeable. They enjoy coming to work and talking to customers and learning from our customers. This is what also sets us apart from others, we pride our selfs on having fair pricing and great customer service.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that our area has a great variety of shopping, access to the highway to get to other areas, we have a wonderful and supportive community. We have a national park with great trails for biking and walking. We have lots of activities for families; a wonderful children’s museum, a minor league baseball team, and great schools.
