Meet Nicole Pritchett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pritchett.

Hi Nicole, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started with an idea of a program to help underserved youth identify their personal strengths and talents then learn ways use those gifts to maximize their personal potential.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If you would call a continuous learning curve a struggle then yes, however after realizing in the first year that there was so much to consider and so much to learn, I settled in because I knew it was worth it. Learning how to reach students and parents, learning how to engage them… ultimately, we chose arts and nature as our tool of engagement, and off we went.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By profession I am an IT Project Manager, so that helped tremendously in starting and operating Hope Road. It was key in us lasting for over ten years (and running). Our programs are based in arts and nature. Our youth gardens originated from what I was taught as a child. I watched my great-grandmother garden until I was old enough to garden with her. I didn’t realize it at the time but that skill stayed within me and ultimately still serves me (and others) today. Our arts program has had a couple of faces, as art is fluid. Hope Road Youth and community theatre was the first iteration and today we have Hope Road Radio, a youth ran podcast. Today I am proud that we have served over one-thousand youth. It is exciting and fulfilling to see youth who have participated in our program growing up to be productive citizens. I love it. I believe what sets Hope Road apart is our creativity, flexibility, and team of caring professionals.
