Meet Nick Miller of A1 Roofing Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Miller.

Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the roofing industry for 6 years when I started the company in 2020. I started the company with myself and a check for 10k to turn it into what we have is a great accomplishment for myself personally and our A1 Family. Our work culture is more like a family atmosphere than a work atmosphere

My background started in insurance work (storm restoration) at first but since then we have done a good number of retail and commercial Jobs making us a one stop shop company for most.

The mission of A1 Roofing Solutions is to provide the very best customer service on a personal level while exceeding expectations for quality of work on all projects interior and exterior. We like to think “people over profits” putting the homeowners needs at the very top of the priority list for us.

We find when we operate this way new business sends itself. We take pride in the fact that we are not just another roofing company. We are deeply embedded in the communities in which we work and we take great care to make our customer service great.

Kenny Lockhart our GM came onboard with us in 2023 and we are a company of 6 with a bunch of new salesman going to start onboarding next month for the upcoming season.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road as I don’t think any new company gets out unscathed. There have been ups and downs but the most important part is to stick to the mission and the course which what we have done. I started the company and it was just me myself and I. Shortly thereafter I ran into my wife (who I had known since 3rd grade). Together we have built this company bought land and a house, had a baby, while entertaining our current 14 and 16 year olds and our 3 dogs.

We have struggled sometimes but overall the company has provided not just money, but freedom to let our employees take charge of their own lives and work around their personal schedules.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our company, although small separates itself from others in a few different ways. We are not there to sell you a roof or fix your gutters. We are there to help you solve a problem or complete a project you have dreamed about. We are simply there to carry out your dreams. I don’t know many roofers who after the job is done will give out there personal number in case the client ever needs anything besides the services that we can offer. (helping move things, shovel driveways etc.) but we all do.

We still send hand written thank you’s to all of our clients with a small gift after a project is completed. As the owner I don’t ever want to get too big to do the small things because if we can’t do the small things right we will never get the big things right.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The best advice I can give someone getting into the industry? That’s a good question. I would say that the number one thing is DON”T give up. There will be people that come out of the woodwork saying things like “are you sure you want to do this? What if you fail?” This will often be from a family member too. Don’t listen to the noise. Trust your gut and network. I would tell them to find someone who is where they want to be and start taking notes and networking. Most importantly don’t listen to the noise. The loudest boo’s come from the cheapest seats.
