Meet Nick Holderbaum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Holderbaum.

Hi Nick, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
As a former firefighter, I have always loved the sauna for its health benefits and for detoxification.

When COVID hit and my gym sauna shut down, I decided I would build my own personal sauna.

I wanted to be able to take the sauna with me when my wife and I moved out of the Short North, so I decided I wanted to make it mobile. This way, I could bring sauna culture to Columbus.

There was an old pontoon boat trailer on my mom’s property that I refurbished and secured the sauna on top of it.

Now you can rent our mobile sauna and cold plunge tank for private events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Deciding how I would power the sauna was a challenge initially. I knew that an electric heater would be the easiest, but I didn’t want to lug around an obnoxious generator with me. In the end, I decided an authentic wood-burning sauna would be my best option and would allow the sauna to be completely off-grid.

I started off doing pop-ups at gyms and wellness events. This was a lot of fun and gave us the opportunity to connect with some great people around the city.

Now my focus is private sauna parties where we bring the sauna and cold plunge tank to your driveway.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Former firefighter. Now I teach firefighters how to be physically and mentally fit for duty.

High Heat mobile sauna is a passion project, and I am proud to bring sauna culture to Columbus.

We are known for our authentic sauna experiences. This is not an infrared sauna. This is a tiny but mighty wood-burning sauna that easily reaches 200 + degrees. No one forgets their first sauna and cold plunge experience with us.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality of my success is a combination of insatiable curiosity and sticking to my circle of competence.
