Meet Monica “Muwosi” Windom of Cincinnati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica (Muwosi) Windom.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a Christian faith Apostolic house-hold that went to church every Wednesday and Sunday. My dad played bass and piano for the church, and also would play at home. So, I grew up around instruments and music. I was familiar with the DAW- Logic Pro because my dad and my cousin Terrance used it, this was back in like 2015. So, I got my hands on Logic and started toying around with its’ features. I would make beats that were electronic house and I’d perform at Off The Block which was an open mic at The Mockbee. This was late 2016 early 2027. From there, the rest was history and I’ve been doing music ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and it continues to not be a smooth road. Some struggles include not being paid enough from venues, but also, not being able to do music full-time. I am a full-time barista by day, and a musician after that.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer/songwriter/producer/ and can hold a chord on the piano. Those are the things I specialize in and am known for. I’m most proud of the years I’ve spent singing and performing out at different venues in Cincinnati, Los Angeles- honestly wherever I’m able to get booked. What sets me apart from others is my uniqueness.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
A quality I feel is most important for my success would be consistency. Consistency in creating music and building a discography. I would also say a quality that is most important for my success is the continuation to collaborate with other amazingly talented musicians and artists.

• Pricing, I’d start off with booking me to perform. That price starts at $500 to ensure myself and the other musicians in the band get paid.
• Pricing to book me would start off at $300. That includes solo set.
