Meet Miranda Sullivan of ONO

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Sullivan.

Hi Miranda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was formerly a school teacher that was very interested in retiring as soon as possible. I learned a lot about finance on my own and I worked in a low income community so I began teaching the concepts I was learning to my students. Unfortunately, due to the nature of schools today, I was reprimanded for teaching concepts that were not in the government given curriculum, despite the fact that these real-world concepts were very needed among the population that I was teaching!

Around this time I was recruited by the retirement providers for my school district and so it made sense for me to transition out of teaching and into a financial planning role. I made it my mission to travel to different schools and voluntarily teach Junior Achievement classes to high school students and put on financial wellness seminars for the teachers. Since then I have worked with real estate investors and agents as well as people who are ready to transition out of working and move into retirement.

Most recently I have focused on millennial parents who are looking to get clarity on their path to retirement and savings for kids!

I run my business with my husband, Matt Sullivan, as well as 5 fully licensed investment agents out of Medina, Ohio. We are happy to serve our clients both in person, as well as on Zoom.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business is never smooth! I have worked with so many entrepreneurs and could go on for days about the common bumps that occur. For us, our hardest bump came when we had an influx of clients before building out a backend team to help with paperwork!

My husband and I were wearing way too many hats in our business early on – we were the marketing team, the salesmen, the admin, etc. It was just impossible to provide the best service without some help.

Since the start of our business we have hired and trained a few office staff members to wear some of these hats, but our current office admin is phenomenal! She has been with us for two years and is immensely efficient with the work we put on her plate. Since having her we have had quicker turn around in every area of our business, and our clients have expressed a lot of positivity about our processes!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ONO?
We are local Investment Advisor Representatives, more commonly known as financial planners. We serve all kinds of people, but we specifically specialize in retirement planning for millennials and gen x.

We are very flexible with clients and can meet both in person and on Zoom. We are very approachable advisors and are available by text message and phone with or without a formal appointment set. Our availability sets us far apart from other people in our industry. Our client’s know that we know them personally and remember who they are when they call. We don’t take your money and hide, we remain a part of your regular routine of life!

We are proud to bring financial clarity to our clients. We think that people are most bogged down by the fear of the unknown and we are excited to help people breathe better when it comes to their finances.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I have learned that action trumps everything. Whenever there is no uncertain path to take, the best path is the one that is actionable rather than just theory. Call the client. Attend the event. Send a card. Most things can be solved or accomplished through simple action.
