Meet Noir Lounge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noir Lounge. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Michael Towns, Dravon Tyson, and Kashif Smiley are all partners and owners of Noir Lounge. Dravon has hosted and ran many parties and events throughout the Columbus, OH region for years. Dravon had a concept of bringing something different to the Columbus, OH area and connected with partners Michael Towns and Kashif Smiley to finalize the design, vision and bring it all to life. Michael Towns has an extensive background in the financial industry and Kashif Smiley has a detailed background in Operations. Each of the owners has been able to puzzle piece their talents together and bring the vision to life. Michael Towns was born and raised in Columbus, OH, Dravon is from Lima and Kashif is from Miami. With different geographical upbringings they have been able to design the space in a unique way which has not been seen in Columbus for quite some time. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Overall, the journey has been smooth. Just as any business there are bumps in the road, but the partnership has worked very well. We built the location from scratch – all new plumbing and electrical, we had to raise the floor of the building to be ADA compliant, etc. It was about a year journey for construction alone so patience and staying true to the vision was very important. As a whole – it has been a great experience. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Each partner has worked in the banking industry for years. We all have had different roles within banking but banking experience as a whole. Combined we bring 30 years of experience in this industry which helped us create Noir Lounge and maintain it thus far. The knowledge Kashif has within Operations and HR brings a level of processes that make the business easy to function. The background for Michael offers tax management and HR solutions also as well as website design and social media presence. And Dravon’s experience in banking and networking along with his passion for event planning pieced everything together nicely for us to be successful. Within Noir Lounge we offer VIP sections, specialty cocktails, happy hours, private event space, live music, etc. We are open and wish to be a diverse location for a wide range of different events! 

What matters most to you?
Longevity and Safety. within the nightlife and drinking industry, it can sometimes cause people to feel unsafe, especially with the way the world is nowadays. We stress safety in our lounge with security and law enforcement to ensure patrons feel relaxed and at ease. We don’t even allow smoking within the location to protect all of our customers. 

And as for Longevity, a lot of black-owned establishments fail within the first year to 2 years. We are stressing creativity in our events and zero discrimination. We want everyone to feel welcome and feel like they are getting something new each time.
