Meet Maria Houston of The Curated Table by Beck Boards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Houston.

Hi Maria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Beck Boards out of grief. Over the last several years, I experienced the loss of multiple family members, including my father. As a psychologist, I often encourage others to find healthy and meaningful ways to cope with difficult life experiences. I realized that I needed to take my own advice and find a creative outlet for myself.

I began noticing charcuterie boards on social media and Pinterest and decided to try creating them, especially during the holidays. What started as a simple hobby quickly became something much more meaningful. The process of creating beautiful, thoughtful displays became therapeutic and provided a sense of peace during a difficult season of life.

As I began sharing my creations with others, I discovered how much joy they brought to people. Seeing a client’s reaction when they receive their order or watching guests gather around a grazing table reminds me that food has the power to create connection, comfort, and celebration. What began as a personal healing journey has grown into a business that allows me to bring joy to others while doing something I truly love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our biggest challenges for 2026 are infrastructure, transportation, marketing, and building a reliable team to support our continued growth. As demand for our services increases, particularly for large-scale events and our mobile charcuterie cart, we must ensure that our operations can scale efficiently while maintaining the quality and customer experience that define our brand.

To address these challenges, I have established meaningful partnerships within the community, including access to commercial kitchen space that allows us to safely prepare and fulfill larger orders. I have also joined the NOW Foundation, which provides resources, mentorship, and support for emerging businesses. To expand our reach and attract new clients, we continue to invest in social media marketing, networking opportunities, and community engagement. Additionally, I plan to leverage our professional network, partnerships, and social media platforms to recruit dependable team members who share our commitment to exceptional service and hospitality.

By taking these proactive steps, Beck Boards is building the foundation necessary to support sustainable growth and expand our impact throughout Central Ohio.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Curated Table by Beck Boards. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What began as a simple creative outlet became a grounding practice that helped me slow down, be present, and find beauty in the smallest details.

Today, that intention is at the heart of Beck Boards. Every board is crafted with love, designed to bring people together, and made to elevate any moment, whether it’s an intimate date night or a room full of your closest friends.

My goal is always the same: to create something beautiful, delicious, and meaningful.
Here’s to curated bites and crafted moments that bring us closer to the ones we love.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Currently, my favorite author is Kenndy Ryan. I just recently finished reading “This Could be Us” for fun. I also really enjoy Rachel Rodgers, “We Should all be Millionaires”. I use several apps for my business to help with marketing and staying organized.
