Meet Lauren Lund

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Lund.

Lauren Lund

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
They say to find something you’re good at and something you’re passionate about and make that your career. My career in the world of beauty began at a young age. I started modeling at the age of 15. I quickly fell in love with the industry. I studied faces, expressions, posing, and even photography. At sixteen, I won the state science fair for my project titled Beauty in the Eyes of the Beholder where I evaluated if facial symmetry impacted perception of beauty. I became enchanted with the art of the human face. I bought a professional camera and began taking portraits of myself, my family, and my modeling friends. As high school graduation neared, I wasn’t sure what exactly would be my career. I liked to think I am both left and right-brained – artistic but always performing well, even in math and science. I knew modeling wouldn’t be a sustainable career for me. I began writing out my strengths and what I wanted to contribute to the world – a big undertaking for a high schooler. I knew one thing I wanted was to make a positive impact on the world. I wanted to care for people. Nursing seemed like an immediate answer. I began nursing school and then started as a registered nurse during the global pandemic, but I missed using my creative side. I reached out to Meg Fruth, co-founder of MOBO Medical Spa, and told her about my interest in colliding my skills in healthcare and art. Within months, I joined the MOBO team. Here I am today creating art with people’s faces as my medium every day. I feel like this is where I am meant to be, in MOBO Med Spa with a syringe in my hand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been full speed ahead since I started down this path. There always are bumps in the road but it takes perseverance and grit to get through it and come out on top. I graduated college with my bachelor’s of science in nursing from Capital University and began working bedside at one of the biggest hospitals in the state during a global pandemic. Being a nurse, especially during COVID times, has its hard times. I believe that my time as a bedside nurse made me a better person and a better nurse injector.

In 2022, I began my career in aesthetics. There is definitely a learning curve going from working in a hospital to injecting a person’s face for the purpose of aesthetic correction. I still recall picking up my first syringe of filler and injecting lips. I have come so far in my technique and my results since that first day. I truly couldn’t be where I am today without the incredible aesthetic nurse practitioner Meg Fruth, who mentored me in this industry. The world of aesthetics is constantly resolving, like all fields of medicine. This creates an environment where you are always learning always staying on your toes. This doesn’t create a so-called “bump”; however, it creates an ever-changing environment. I prioritize learning and new services and techniques to always provide the best care for my clients.

Also in 2022, I also started a nurse practitioner program at The Ohio State University. The days can be long when I’m seeing aesthetic patients all day then studying in the evening, but I love what I do, and I wouldn’t trade my career in aesthetics for the world. I’m really excited to finish nurse practitioner school in May of 2024 and expand my scope of practice.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an aesthetic registered nurse. As an aesthetic nurse, I have a variety of tools in my toolbox to help someone reach their aesthetic goal, which may include injectables, skin rejuvenation treatments, and weight loss and wellness services. I often have people coming in to see me for lip filler. I have become known for my natural lip augmentations with filler, which has lead to the hashtag “#LipsbyLaurenLund”. Our practice has 88+ five-star Google reviews, and many of them mention how incredible their filler experience was with me. I spend my time educating the patient on the filler process and assessing their goals for the treatment. We discuss what lip shape and volume would look best with their facial features. My patients leave the treatment room feeling confident after their treatment. I am most proud when my patients give me a hug after their procedure and tell me how confident and beautiful, they feel.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
For people just starting to look at getting medical services, it’s important to evaluate a few things. First, find a certified medical injector, such as a nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician. Next, schedule a consultation. Our consultations at MOBO Med Spa are free. During the consultation, we discuss your aesthetic goal and what treatments are best for you. I want everyone who is interested in aesthetic services to not feel afraid or intimidated by medical spa treatments. It’s always best to come in for a consultant where we can chat like best friends about options for you. I want all of my clients to feel like they can ask me anything about treatments. I also think that many people are afraid of med spa services because they think that the services will make them look plastic or overdone. I take a conservative approach in medical aesthetics. I always work with my patients over time to create a beautiful, natural transformation.

For medical professionals trying to get into the industry: Self-assess why you want to be in this industry. It’s a hard industry but it also is very rewarding if you’re in the industry for the right reasons. You MUST be passionate about aesthetics to make it. Find an aesthetic practitioner you can shadow. Get certified in aesthetics and aesthetics services. Most importantly, find a mentor in the industry. You won’t know everything at first, and that’s okay. It takes time to feel comfortable with a syringe in your hand. Finally, take time to smell the roses. It’s important to take time to look at the transformation you have made in your industry. My before and after pictures show that my aesthetic procedures have insanely improved over my time as a nurse injector and that just makes me even more excited for the continued improvement and success to come!
