Meet Kelly Velikonya Patel of Bold Interiors Cle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Velikonya Patel. They shared their story with us below:

In addition to designing, Kelly also is an Adjunct Professor of the Kent State University Fashion School. A Cleveland native, Kelly loves to immerse herself in the diverse culture the city has to offer, usually with her husband and her son. This high-styled family loves exploring Cleveland. At every outing, searching new design ideas and enjoying the extraordinary architecture in our beautiful city.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am new to the Interior world. My background and expertise has been in the fashion and retail space for almost 20 years. I continue to learn and develop daily to grow myself and business. I am focused on developing new skills and knowledge about interior design. Taking courses, reading and researching the past and present trends to ensure that what I design is relevant and relatable. I am networking and marketing to launch my business to the next level. I am grateful for the clients I have met and worked with. Client relationships are most important in this industry.

Bold Interiors Cle is an Interior Design and Decorating Studio located in Northeast Ohio. It is our mission to create beautiful spaces that evoke emotion and that are reflective of our client’s personality and lifestyle. We are active listeners and thoughtful curators. We approach design with a collaborative approach and believe that each space should feel truly yours and make you feel more like yourself.

We offer a service that I feel is different from most design studios. We work with clients with all budgets. We help clients bring their home together, tie up loose ends, or complete the look. Our clients are fun, eccentric, artsy, diverse, and collectors. It is our job to highlight their pieces in their space and bring their vision to life. They have a great eye for selecting pieces but are unsure where or how to display them in their home. We help their house feel like a home and most importantly reflect themselves; We ensure that their pieces tell their story. We add textiles, furniture, art, and lighting, as needed to enhance the space. Often a space can feel new by just adding an updated area rug, a fresh coat of paint, and some throw pillows. We listen to our client’s ideas for the space and curate a design based on their lifestyle.

We offer a full range of interior design services, including space planning, color consultations, furniture selection, and project management. Whether you are looking to refresh a single room or renovate an entire home, we are here to help bring your vision to life.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I take pride in my work. Whether it is working with a restaurant or store for opening day, revealing an updated space for a client in their home, or finding the perfect light fixture for a project. I love the feeling of seeing clients elated from our design work. I am very thoughtful in the curating and sourcing portion of the design process; I always take into account the client’s lifestyle and how the pieces will function for the space and client. There is nothing better than to have your clients see the space for the first time and love it. It is very rewarding. As designers, it is the ultimate sign of trust when a client welcomes you into their home, and you’re able to help create a space that they value so much and that they share with their loved ones.
