Today we’d like to introduce you to Jolisha Ervin.
Hi Jolisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, I have always been into beauty, anywhere from fashion to hair and makeup. After graduating high school in 2018 I knew that my impact on the world was going to be done through the beauty industry. Starting in August 2018, I started at the Cosmetology School at the Artisan School of Cosmetology. I couldn’t have asked for better instructors. They truly gave me the confidence for my career to take off. I graduated school in October of 2019 and, two days later, started my career in the real world. I have been actively in cosmology since. I have been able to do such great things after graduation. Not only do I have the best people in my chair, but they have became some of the best people I have in my life. I have done career fairs, college fairs, and numerous charity events. I love being able to use my career to give back to my community, giving free haircuts for the back-to-school events our towns do for the kids. I’m also able to use my skills to help great friends out helping them with their businesses. I truly couldn’t think of anything else I could rather be doing. I cannot wait to see where my career takes me.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a clientele is always rough. Starting out there is so much unknown. I had just been working a few months when Covid hit and shut us down. All of my work was taken away. I luckily had guest who were ready to come back into my chair. From then, it’s taken off. Some weeks are full starting out, and some are slow, but hard work pays off.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am most proud of opening a salon suite. I did have some of the best people to help me, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I have put a lot of work into this suite and am so happy with how it has been.
What do you think about happiness?
Seeing smiles leave my chair makes me smile. Knowing that I did something to make them feel good about themselves makes me know I did great in my job.
