Joe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love for animals started at a young age—I’ve always been drawn to understanding their behavior, building trust, and working with them in a way that brings out their best. Erin, on the other hand, has a background in hospitality and a passion for creating meaningful experiences for people. Together, with our combined skills and a shared love for both animals and people, we took the ambitious leap to start our own dog service company.
Married for 12 years and together for 16, we make a great team. Our journey started with a focus on dog training, helping dogs of all breeds and temperaments become well-balanced companions for their owners. But as we worked with more clients, we realized our services went beyond just training—we were creating experiences that brought peace, confidence, and joy to both dogs and their owners.
A year into the business, we’ve evolved and expanded our offerings to include everything from group classes, adoption consulting to wedding pet attendant services and now The Diamond Pack Experience—where we bring well-trained dogs to spaces, corporate events, wellness retreats, and brand activations to create a therapeutic and mood-boosting atmosphere.
It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re excited to keep growing, helping more dogs, and enriching more lives along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business has definitely been a learning curve, and we’re still navigating it every day. You can have a solid plan on paper, but the reality of running a business means constantly problem-solving and adapting. Erin and I have had to figure out the best way to work together, balancing our strengths while handling the unexpected challenges that come with entrepreneurship.
One of the biggest struggles has been building something from the ground up—not just training dogs, but also learning how to run a business, manage operations, and market ourselves effectively. We’ve had to refine our approach as we grow, making sure we’re providing the best experience for both dogs and their owners while staying true to our vision.
Another challenge has been launching The Diamond Pack Experience, which is a completely new concept in our market. Since nothing like it exists here yet, we’ve had to educate potential clients on the value of bringing well-trained dogs into their spaces. Breaking into a new market takes time, persistence, and a lot of trust-building, but we truly believe in what we’re offering.
Despite the challenges, every obstacle has helped us grow stronger, both as business owners and as a team. We love what we do, and we’re excited to keep evolving, learning, and expanding in ways that make an impact.
