Today we’d like to introduce you to EVAN DAIBER.
Hi EVAN, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in a place most wouldn’t expect. After serving time in prison and facing some hard years as a young adult, I discovered boxing behind bars. It became more than just a sport—it gave me structure, discipline, and a sense of purpose I had never felt before. That experience lit a fire in me to help others find the same kind of direction and strength, especially young people who might be struggling to find their way.
Once I was released, I became a personal trainer and started working for a local company. I spent years learning everything I could—not just about training, but about business, client relationships, and what it takes to truly make a difference in people’s lives. Eventually, that experience gave me the confidence and tools to launch my own facility in Beachwood, Ohio.
What started with just a few clients has now grown into a thriving gym where we train hundreds of kids and adults. Our mission goes far beyond fitness. We use boxing as a tool to empower people—to help them fight back against adversity, overcome negativity, and build the kind of discipline and confidence that transforms lives.
Today, we have a team of over 10 coaches and staff members, and we continue to grow. I’m proud to say we’re not just building better athletes—we’re building better people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been far from a smooth road. Since day one, we’ve faced challenge after challenge. One of the first major hurdles was building the business from scratch—completely bootstrapped. No loans, no debt, no outside investors—just grit, hustle, and a vision. Learning how to hire, train, and lead a team while also wearing every hat in the business was a trial by fire.
Then came COVID. For a gym, that was a true test of survival. We had to figure out how to continue serving our members, support our staff, and keep the doors open—even when the doors were literally closed. We pivoted quickly, offering online training, personalized remote support, and doing whatever it took to retain the community we had built.
Just when we thought we were through the worst of it, we were hit with the post-COVID employment crisis. The job market became extremely tough for small businesses like ours, especially in trying to find quality coaches and trainers. That led to a period of turnover in both staff and membership, which forced us to dig even deeper.
Through all of it, we focused on building stronger systems, refining our culture, and learning how to attract and retain the right people. Every challenge taught us something and ultimately made us stronger. Looking back, the struggle was the training ground for everything we’ve built today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At our core, we use boxing as a tool to empower people to fight back—not just in the ring, but in life. We specialize in training both youth and adults, whether they want to compete at an amateur or professional level, or simply use boxing as a way to get healthier, stronger, and more confident.
What we’re most known for is our accountability. We don’t just run workouts—we build discipline, consistency, and mindset. Our clients know we’re going to challenge them, support them, and push them to grow.
We’re also proud to have assembled one of the best coaching teams around. Our staff is experienced, passionate, and committed to helping every member—whether it’s a young kid stepping into the gym for the first time, or a seasoned fighter preparing for competition.
What really sets us apart is our versatility and accessibility. We’re open seven days a week with sessions in the morning, afternoon, and evening. We work with both kids and adults, beginners and experienced boxers, competitors and non-competitors. Whether someone wants to lose weight, learn self-defense, build confidence, or chase a championship, we have the structure and support to help them get there.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My fiance is also a coach and a big part of our gym family at 2 Tone Boxing Club. We also have a great staff including coach Julius, Coach T, and Coach Andrew who help us train our clients and members. As a mentor, Alex Hormozi helped mentor me when I first started this business and helped me learn how to be the best salesman, marketer, and leader for the business.
