Meet Dying Desolation of Cleveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dying Desolation.

Hi Dying, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After meeting in a 6th grade art class, guitarist Gabe Gazic and drummer Jordan Gannon quickly started bonding over their love for music. After attending their first concert together (Three Days Grace at the House of Blues in Cleveland), the duo was inspired to start a band of their own. After several years of members coming and going, playing small shows with only a handful of people in attendance, and regular gear malfunctions, the band finally hit a stride in 2021. After finally securing a permanent vocalist, Kody Archer, along with bass player Simon Kanaris, who they had recruited in 2019, the band quickly began to gain traction after creating their TikTok account. Within a month, the group had tens of thousands of followers, with millions of video views and hundreds of thousands of likes. These followers flooded over to their Spotify, YouTube, and Instagram accounts, more than doubling the fanbase they had been establishing over the last four years overnight. The band currently has thousands of fans across all platforms, and is on track to release an album in 2022.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been far from a smooth road for us- in the beginning, we had a really hard time finding members that shared our level of passion and commitment, so we had a revolving door of members for the first year or so. Another big problem is money- being in a band is NOT cheap. You need to pay for gear, merch, recording, promotion- there’s never a shortage of things to pay for, and when you’re just a couple of high schoolers, trying to scrape together what could sometimes add up to be several thousands of dollars just to keep your band going, it can get pretty daunting.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a young Hard Rock/Metal band that write music often dealing with real world issues such as global climate change. We set high standards for ourselves in everything we do, from the quality of our recordings, to our stage performance, to our videos and merch, and everything in between. We believe that these high standards, as well as the important real world topics we cover in our music, are major things that have helped to set us apart from others.
