Meet Diana Hoffman of Cincinnati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Hoffman.

Hi Diana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started dancing at the age of three taking ballet classes from a very talented teacher named Janet Carlton. She gave me the skills and mindset of being a dancer, listening to music and holding the body with poise. I danced ballet and modern through my high school and college years.

Salsa dancing was introduced to me by when when I was working in Miami, Florida as a University of Cincinnati DAAP Fashion Design Co-op Student. I was at a salsa bar and saw the connection and positive energy from dancers of all backgrounds. It was at this moment that I knew that Latin dancing was my path in life. Upon my return to Cincinnati, I found myself at a salsa night at the Corinthian Restaurant in Clifton and started dancing and teaching immediately.

Over twenty years later, I’m still teaching Latin dance to students of all ages and levels including classes, workshops, private lessons, school groups, community events like Salsa on the Square, weddings and corporate events. My motto is that dance is for everyone and to make it fun to learn through the music. No one has to be afraid or intimidated to come into my classes as I connect them to culture and diversity. You can find my website at www.kamasalsa.com and Facebook at KamaSalsa Latin Dancing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I had to learn how to teach a large group the lead and follow while I was learning myself. However, this made me more determined and stronger.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My background is in marketing including working with companies such as Dress for Success Cincinnati. It’s through this journey that I combined my passion for community and helping others find their path.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to expand my private lesson and wedding business sector. This helps couples understand the value to learning something new together, gaining listening skills while having fun.
