Meet Danielle Alexander of Redemptive Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Alexander.

Hi Danielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hi, my name is Danielle Alexander and I started my own fitness training business several years ago called Redemptive Fitness. I truly believe God has been prepping me for this job my entire life, ever since I was just a little girl. From a very young age, I can remember doing Denise Austin workout videos and studying books over how the body works. I was FASCINATED with the human body!

Throughout my childhood, my parents would take my brother and I on long hikes and bike rides and honestly, exercising just became a way of life. They made it fun and I will always be appreciative of that. In fact, some of my best memories with my parents are on the Loveland bike trails or in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, where we regularly visited.

My love for fitness only grew stronger once I took up gymnastics in elementary school. I continued with gymnastics on a competitive team for many years, learning how to work hard and push myself both physically and mentally. This love for gymnastics then transitioned into a love for strength training in college!

In fact, I studied and received my degree in Kinesiology from Miami University. I have since gone onto receive several certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as well. I am forever grateful for my degree because it gave me an amazing professional background to help clients post-college.

Once I graduated college, I took up group fitness training part-time while I worked at a hospital. I did dabble in the idea of going back to school for nursing, medicine or physical therapy but I felt God pulling me to stay in training. I really wanted to stay on the preventive side of health.

After several training jobs working for hospitals and other health institutions, I finally left my corporate training jobs to start my own business: Redemptive Fitness. The name stems from my belief that it is NEVER too late to change the direction of your life. We get a new day every day to become better, be better and change for the BETTER. No one is too far gone, too overweight, too skinny, too anything to become stronger and healthier. I want my clients to BELIEVE that!

Today I train about 100 clients a week between groups and personal training. I have also hired an amazing trainer, Brooke Wray who has been such a blessing for my business. I know there are amazing things in store for 2022 and I cannot wait to see where this next year takes me!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think life is ever smooth but when the road gets bumpy is when we grow. I would say the biggest hurdle was having the courage to leave my corporate training jobs because I was leaving behind many of my clients, my health and retirement benefits, security in making money, etc. Starting your own business requires faith. You have to trust that if you put in the work, it’ll happen. And it did!

We’ve been impressed with Redemptive Fitness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run my own training business full time. I train both personal training clients and group classes. I teach about 100 clients a week how to lift properly, become strong, fuel their bodies well, etc.

I believe that my business is unique in that we truly are FAMILY. My clients support each other, encourage one another and make each other better. We don’t just see each other in the gym. We have get-togethers at my house to learn more about nutrition, we go out together to grab drinks and we GIVE together. I am most proud of my clients’ generous hearts! My clients have donated over 1,000$ to the Northern Kentucky Children’s Center in Kentucky and it makes me just happy. My clients bring JOY to my life. I couldn’t ask for better clients.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck but I do believe God has His hand in my work/job.
