Meet Daniela Lima of Good Health Organizing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Lima.

Hi Daniela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Brazilian and have been living in the US for over 20 years. I came to the US to attend college.

I LOVE NUTRITION! I have always been fascinated by the science behind food and that the mindset plays a big part of nutrition.

For example, if you are under a lot of stress, you can’t just eat organic and expect to feel well. In life, what you eat, as well as what you think are very important.

When my middle child had to change her diet, I remember going home after the doctor’s appointment, parking my car, and crying with her. I just didn’t know where to begin. And I was already studying nutrition in college, so I could imagine how a person without a background in nutrition would feel!

If I had someone helping me at that time, I wouldn’t have felt so overwhelmed. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

My mission of Good Health Organizing is to be that guide for my clients, holding their hands during these painful changes so they know they are not alone.

Nutrition is such an important topic today, but unfortunately, there is so much misinformation out there. I’m here to help my clients get the right information and make their journey much easier than mine.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, the road has been challenging. I did not know that my nutrition major was going to be so difficult. I really thought it would be easy because everyone eats and drinks to survive right?

One of the issues I come across is that everyone believes they know nutrition. Or they don’t believe that it is important to understand the basics of nutrition.

But we know the leading cause of death in the nation is heart disease. Chronic diseases are only growing. And we are not doing much to change. There is a lot of misleading and wrong information out there. Also, people without the proper training are giving others nutrition advice.

I started my company because it is my life’s calling. In addition to growing my business, I experienced self-growth and self-healing. And during this process, I met such amazing people.

I believe that health starts inside your home.

My first company idea was to marry professional organizing and nutrition. By reviewing their pantry, I could teach them healthy eating. Over time, I realized that I would be able to help more people virtually.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I believe the kitchen is the heart of the home and the key to our health. That’s why I want to help others to have a great experience in the kitchen by teaching them the most up-to-date nutrition information—no matter what’s going on in their lives.

I help clients, families, and friends who are newly diagnosed diabetics and pre-diabetics, to live life with diabetes while continuing to eat their favorite foods.

I offer a holistic approach to living your best life with chronic disease.

Nutrition is much more than diet. It’s also a mindset and movement.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am from Sao Paulo, Brazil. My first language is Portuguese. I was raised by my grandma because my mom passed away when I was 5y. I have an older sister that always protected me growing up. I was an opinionated child. I started working at the age of 14 selling CDs. I did not like school at the time because school was difficult for me.

Today I understand why. Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with a few learning disabilities, which made learning difficult in school, but that never stopped me.

We used to see my dad on the weekends and go to fun places such as the mall. And he tells me that I used to pick grilled fish and a salad for my meals while my sister had hamburgers and fries. Apparently, I’ve always liked nutrition.

I love changes because it is necessary for something better.

Some Fun Facts about me:

I own more than 60 house plants!

I have gone skydiving 5 different times!

I love to cook… but cannot bake at all!

I don’t watch much television. I like road cycling, hiking, running, and traveling. My last road trip was 13hrs to Minnesota, making wonderful memories with my 3 kids.
