Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Miller.
Courtney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the go-to person for organizing trips and making sure every detail was perfect. I loved it so much, I turned it into a career.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—and honestly, I don’t think it’s meant to be in this industry. Travel is constantly changing, so staying up to date requires ongoing education and being willing to adapt at all times.
I’ve learned that part of being successful is expecting that things won’t always go as planned. Flights get delayed, plans shift, and unexpected situations come up. The key is how you handle it. Staying calm, thinking rationally, and quickly finding solutions—especially in stressful moments like a canceled flight—is what really makes the difference for your clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been a travel advisor for four years now, and during that time I’ve grown my business significantly. By the end of 2025, I surpassed $1 million in sales, ranked in the top 1% of my company, and earned Elite Agent status—milestones I’m incredibly proud of.
While I’d love to be an expert in all areas of travel, I’ve found that really honing in on a niche allows me to serve my clients at a higher level. I specialize in family travel, with a focus on cruises, Caribbean all-inclusives, and destinations like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.
What really sets me apart is my willingness to take on new challenges and think outside the box. Last year, I set a goal to grow into group travel—without having a clear roadmap of how I’d get there. I leaned into something I personally love, pickleball, and created a unique experience by partnering with an instructor to host a retreat at an all-inclusive resort.
Within 12 months, that idea became a reality. We hosted a group of over 40 people at Sandals Regency La Toc for a week of pickleball, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. It exceeded every expectation—and because of its success, I already have two more retreats planned for 2027.
That experience really reflects how I approach my business: I’m always looking for ways to create meaningful, unique travel experiences for my clients, not just book trips.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One of the best things I’ve done is attend travel advisor–specific meetings and events. Getting in the room with like-minded people who truly understand the industry has been invaluable.
I’ve also built a close network of fellow travel advisors that I regularly connect with. We bounce ideas off each other, share experiences, and support one another as we grow our businesses. Having that kind of community has been a huge part of my success.
My biggest advice would be to be intentional about building those relationships—don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and collaborate. This industry is so much stronger when you’re not trying to do it all alone.
