Meet Beth Sanchez And Brittany Schmidt of Balance and Bloom Women’s Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Sanchez And Brittany Schmidt.

Hi Beth Sanchez and, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Balance & Bloom Women’s Wellness was created out of a shared passion for improving access to thoughtful, specialized mental health care for women. Both of us have backgrounds in women’s health, as labor and delivery nurses, prior to becoming psychiatric nurse practitioners, and through those experiences, we saw firsthand how often women’s emotional and mental health needs—especially during pregnancy, postpartum, and times of hormonal transition—were overlooked or not fully addressed.

As we transitioned into psychiatry, it became even more clear that there was a gap in care. Many women were struggling with anxiety, depression, mood changes, and identity shifts during major life transitions, yet weren’t receiving care that felt comprehensive, personalized, or aligned with what they were experiencing.

We have worked four jobs together over the years and we connected through our shared approach to care—one that is both evidence-based and deeply patient-centered—and quickly realized we had a similar vision. We wanted to create a space where women could feel heard, supported, and truly understood, while also receiving high-quality psychiatric care that considers the full picture, including hormones and lifestyle

That vision led us to start Balance & Bloom Women’s Wellness. Since launching, our goal has been to build a practice that feels approachable and collaborative, while also providing specialized care for women across the lifespan—from young adulthood through pregnancy and postpartum, and into perimenopause and beyond.

We’re still early in our journey, but we’re incredibly proud of what we’re building and grateful for the opportunity to support women during some of the most meaningful and challenging times in their lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but that’s true for most things worth building. Starting a practice comes with new roles and challenges. From navigating business logistics and building systems and getting the word out, there have been plenty of moments that required patience, flexibility, and a willingness to figure things out as we went.

One of the bigger challenges has been stepping into something new while also letting go of what was familiar. That transition can feel both exciting and uncomfortable at the same time. We’ve had to trust our vision, lean on each other, and stay grounded in why we started this in the first place.

That said, every challenge has reinforced how important this work is to us. It’s pushed us to grow—not just as providers, but as business owners—and has made what we’re building feel even more meaningful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Balance and Bloom Women’s Wellness?
Balance & Bloom Women’s Wellness is a psychiatric practice dedicated exclusively to women’s mental health. We specialize in supporting women through the full spectrum of life, from young adulthood to pregnancy and postpartum, through perimenopause and beyond—with care that is both evidence based and personalized.

What sets us apart is our focus on the intersection of mental health and hormonal transitions. Many of the women we see are navigating anxiety, depression, mood changes, or a general sense of not feeling like themselves during times that are often minimized or misunderstood. We take the time to look at the full picture of mental health, physical health, hormones, lifestyle, and life circumstances. Our care feels thoughtful, relevant, and truly individualized.

We’re known for being approachable and collaborative. Our goal is to create a space where women feel comfortable being honest about what they’re experiencing, without fear of being dismissed or rushed. We combine evidence-based psychiatric care with practical, real-life strategies so that treatment feels both effective and sustainable.

From a brand perspective, we’re most proud of building something that feels both professional and genuinely human. We want women to feel a sense of relief when they find us—like they’ve finally landed somewhere that “gets it.” At the end of the day, our mission is simple: to help women feel more like themselves again, especially during seasons of life that can feel overwhelming or isolating.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
One of the biggest things we’ve learned is that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. It’s easy to feel like you need the perfect plan, the perfect timing, or complete confidence—but so much of the growth comes from learning as you go. There will never be “perfect” timing.

We would also say to stay really grounded in your “why.” There will be moments that feel uncertain or overwhelming, and having a clear sense of purpose helps you keep moving forward when things don’t go as planned. Knowing that we are helping women feel their best has always been central to our motivation.

Another piece of advice is to build relationships early. Whether it’s other providers, mentors, or people in your community, those connections matter more than you think, and not just for referrals, but for support and collaboration. Learning from others and lifting others up has helped us grow as providers and a practice.

And finally, give yourself permission to grow into it. Starting something new stretches you in ways you can’t fully anticipate, and that’s part of the process. You don’t have to do everything perfectly- you just have to be willing to keep showing up and putting the time and effort in.
