Meet Adonis Boyd of Akron Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adonis Boyd.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Adonis Boyd” is a local artist from Akron/Cleveland Ohio, who started off playing drums when he was just 2 years old banging on pots and pans. He picked up other instruments like “Piano/Guitar/Bass. So then he joined several music projects over the years since 2017…. playing drums/guitar/bass for bands…. “Pink Maskerade” // “Pollen Eyes” and so many more. Places he’s played at since 2019 just to name a few…. “Blank Slate Elyria” // “The Vortex” // “WestSide Bowl” // “The Winchester Bar in Lakewood Ohio // “Mahalls” in Lakewood Ohio // and also out of town places including…. “Poetry Lounge” in Pittsburgh // “Michigan” and “Indianapolis Indiana.” He then went on tour in July of 2021 with his band/solo and with friends “Ataraxis.” There is a ton of music to listen to by him on YouTube, Apple Music, And Spotify. He put out a 3 song EP back in 2019 called “All Memories” and a 6 song EP called “The Dream.” He also has a couple music videos out including…. “I Miss My Best Friend” which was filmed by “Garrett Grimes” in November of 2024. The other music video is…. for “Meet Me At The Coffee Shop” which came out in July of 2025. But the reason why “Adonis” started his music project is because…. in 2017 & 2018 he lost his grandparents, and music made a huge turning point in his life. As of February this year in 2025 “Adonis” went to a place called “The Spot Diy Music Hub” in Canton Ohio, and that’s how he met his former band members there, and then “Boyd And The Monkeys” was created shortly after that. “Adonis’s” drive for music is amazing because he puts so much time and effort into it nonstop everyday, grinding and playing shows, busking in highland square of Akron Ohio for the last couple years too, and a lot of people say he’s the most active artist on social media. People say he’s an inspiration to many, others have said that his music has helped them not take their lives, which is a true blessing. And also he is one of the most kind-hearted person you will ever meet.

But now that “Adonis” has been doing this for several years, he wants to use his talents to let people know they have something to live for, even if though it’s hard to get back up and recover from it. In the long run everything is worth it, just gotta keep pushing on and never give up on those dreams.

“Spread positive vibes, and never give up on your dreams, because there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s not worth it to part-take in negative things, do what makes you happy, and stick with it, and stay consistent.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a smooth road so far, there has been some struggles with finding a new drummer, but still not giving up. The most important characteristic would be a combination of resilience, consistency, and dedication, with an unwavering focus on the audience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a music artist based out of Akron Ohio, who loves helping people, and being positive, and letting people know they have something to live for thru my music. Also I can play piano/guitar/bass/drums and can sing. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come since 2017, going thru so much stuff. But still pushing on, and grinding nonstop. What sets me apart from others is…. My drive for music or anything once I’m in it. I’m down for the long road ahead. Plus I’m a very Kind-hearted person, would give the clothes off of my back to anyone who needs something.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The music itself is the compass for navigating the bumpy road.

The raw emotions and vivid stories from life’s challenges can provide inspiration for writing pop-folk songs.
The ups and downs of a career can be woven into a songwriter’s music, turning personal struggles into art that helps others feel seen and heard.
For artists who find it hard to promote themselves, the passion for creating, recording, and mixing music is the core motivation that keeps them going.
