Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Fraley.
Hi Trevor , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started Gimme a Swing with my best friend Zach Singleton. We both graduated from the University of Dayton where I studied Entrepreneurship and he studied Finance. Ever since college we would golf as much as we possibly could. Sometimes up to 5 times per week. I texted Zach one day in the summer of 2025 and told him how I wished to make a business that revolved around golf. So with this dream in mind, we just started brainstorming. Of course we wanted something that sets us apart and is new with a twist. With the rapid growth of golf, indoor simulator bays are popping up everywhere. We asked each other, “what if we bring the simulator to the people?” So, we leaned towards a mobile golf simulator and decided to cater towards private events, corporate events, parties, and festivals/fundraisers. We both agreed that we could actually make this idea into a reality. So, we immediately got the ball rolling and started talking about names for our business. Obviously, the one that stuck out was Gimme a Swing. Golf simulators are known for their “gimme” putts within 5 feet so we decided to incorporate that into our name. Once we filed the LLC we knew there was no turning back and we started to purchase everything and spread the word. I would always mention it to people at the golf course when we played casually and always got great feedback. Our inaugural business launch was at our high school Alma mater, Archbishop Alter. They hold “Alter Fest” every Labor Day weekend. We were fortunate enough that they squeezed extra room for us. After a long but very successful weekend, we both knew that this could work and gain some traction. At the beginning of 2026, we went to a wedding expo that was ran by Claiborne Productions and started advertising for cocktail hours and weddings. We proudly brought our golf simulator to our first wedding on the first weekend of May 2026. Seeing a little bit of success goes a long way and gets us both super excited for what’s to come in the near future. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. Our biggest road bump is funding. We are both fully vested into our business with our own money. We both have full time jobs so balancing the two together is always a challenge. But we make ends meet and we believe that with perseverance, we will make that back in no time. Another bump in the road was 2 months prior to Alter Fest weekend, we purchased our 14 foot inflatable. Unfortunately as the weekend got closer and closer, the inflatable did not arrive on time. That just meant we had to find a plan B and purchase a smaller set up for the weekend. Luckily the smaller set up came right in time for the event. It was a stressful race to the finish but it was a good lesson on how to persevere. Not everything will go according to plan but it’s how you react and fix the issue that matters. I will say that this purchase has been extremely helpful as it gives us two sizes to provide for our clients. Kind of a win/win situation!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Trevor Fraley works with ADP full time assisting small businesses in the Dayton area. I provide Human Capital Management solutions such as hiring/onboarding, tax compliance, and payroll. I’m most proud of being able to do what I love while blending it with work.
Zach Singleton is an Employee Benefits Consultant at USI, where he partners with employers to design and manage employee benefits programs that support their business goals while balancing costs, compliance, and employee experience. He works closely with leadership teams to help them navigate benefits decisions using data, market insight, and a consultative approach that turns complex information into clear, actionable strategy. What sets him apart is that he leads with understanding rather than products and genuinely loves what he does.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the community that Dayton has. It’s always been home to me for the past 24 years and always will be. I do hope to scale the business and my career to get the chance to move away from Dayton to experience new things. However, for right now I love calling Dayton my home.
