Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefanie Solano.
Hi Stefanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As children we are told, we can be anything and that we should love what we do. One thing I have loved my whole life is crafting and creating. After having children my creations became all about them. I would walk through stores and think about how cute things were, but how I wish small details were different, “why does this adorable bib have scratchy velcro at the neck, a button would be much better”. I slowly began to take those thoughts and turn them into my own creations. Many of my designs are hand-drawn and no detail is overlooked. I take practical items and find small ways to make them a little better. Over time I made the decision to build a website so I could share my creations with those around me. Three + Me Creations is mostly a baby and child brand but there is something for everyone on my site and custom orders are always welcome.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building something from nothing is no small task. Crafting and creating has always been my passion, but learning social media, website design, and how to best market my creations is a whole new story. Not to mention the vulnerability of putting yourself out there for the world to see. Threre are months where I get several orders, great engagement on my posts, and really feel like I am killing this Small Business game. Then there are months when I get no orders, very few views on my latest reel and that is when I wonder if I am doing the right thing with my life. When things get hard, I look at my children and am reminded that dreams are worth fighting for.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a sewist. I design and create a variety of baby and child items. I love mixing and matching different fabric patterns that make fun one-of-a-kind items. I also do hand embroidery to give your creations a personalized touch. When an order is sent out, I believe it will be the type of item that is cherished for a lifetime. Some of my favorite creations are the Snuggle Lovey, SnapSack, and Cross Back Apron. The Snuggle Lovey is a small security blanket perfect for tiny baby hands and loved for many years after. The SnapSack is a reusable snack bag but can also be used in many other ways, like a waterproof pool pouch to put your phone and wallet in, or on the go craft bag for your kids. The Cross Back Apron is great because kids can throw it on by themself, no snaps, ties, or velcro. Ready for a fun day baking and cooking or even protecting clothes during a messy craft. No matter what creation catches your eye, it is sure to be made with love ready for all of your life adventures.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I believe we all have something to offer in this world and that you should truly love what you do. Officially starting a business is a big undertaking, but it truly is rewarding watching it grow and blossom. Being a business owner, you will get a lot of advice and suggestions on how you should do things, and it is important to always stay true to your purpose. It can be easy to get lost in the noise of social media and branding, but you got this!
