Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Wynn
Samantha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Spritz Social was launched in November 2023, three months after my wedding in August. While planning my own wedding, I noticed that Wedding Content Creation hadn’t really taken off in Ohio yet, even though I was looking for someone to capture behind-the-scenes moments for me. Realizing this gap and connecting with wedding content creators from other states, I decided to start this business to help Ohio couples capture their special day.
After launching, I was thrilled and surprised by the influx of inquiries and the support from the Cleveland wedding community. Vendors from across the region reached out with questions and offers to help. Thanks to the support of my husband, friends and family, other vendors and my amazing couples who have trusted me, I am fully booked for 2024 and already taking bookings for 2025! I have surpassed my first-year goals and am excited to see where this journey takes me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can’t complain; the journey has been smoother than I anticipated. Of course, there were initial growing pains and learning curves, but overall, starting a small business has been a great experience. Initially, I was worried about how photographers and videographers would react. I didn’t want them to think I was trying to replace them but rather I was there to complement the media team. After working a few weddings, I realized the importance of good communication and understanding. Plus, my imposter syndrome was just my own; people genuinely appreciated my work!
I was also concerned that people might not grasp the concept or might think content creation was frivolous. However, from talking to couples, I found that this was exactly the gap in the industry they were looking to fill. I’ll never forget meeting a bride at a recent wedding show who had never heard of wedding content creation. After answering her questions, she lit up with excitement, ran over to her fiancé, and enthusiastically exclaimed that this was exactly what she had been searching for.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For my day job, I am a Quality Engineer. I studied Biology at Ashland University and decided to pursue the Quality Assurance side of my degree. My work involves managing spreadsheets, updating documents, and analyzing data. I love my job and am grateful for a successful career, but I have always had a creative side. Growing up, I was a competitive dancer and continued dancing in college. I also have a passion for photography and video. With dance no longer in my life, I turned to social media as a creative outlet. When I discovered wedding content creation, I knew it was the perfect path for me.
As a wedding day content creator, I specialize in capturing and producing various forms of digital media to document a couple’s wedding day. This includes photos, videos, social media posts, and other content highlighting behind-the-scenes moments, special interactions, and key events. Unlike traditional wedding photography or videography, my focus is on creating short, engaging clips and images that are often shared on social media platforms in real-time or shortly after the event.
What sets me apart is my customization, which is quite different from traditional photography and videography (But I am not a replacement for these, I work alongside the media team). When couples hire those vendors, they are choosing a specific style of editing and cinematic choices. With my service, the content is tailored to reflect the couple’s personality, wedding theme, and style preferences. They get to edit it however they want, which isn’t possible with traditional photography/videography. I take the time to understand the couple, their story, and offer assistance with the planning process if needed. Planning a wedding is incredibly stressful, and having someone outside of friends and family to lean on can be a breath of fresh air. My ultimate goal is to bring joy to my couples because their happiness is what matters most.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I consider most important to my success as a wedding content creator is empathy. Understanding and connecting with each couple on a personal level allows me to capture their unique story and emotions authentically. Empathy helps me anticipate their needs, make them feel comfortable, and create content that truly reflects their personalities and the special moments of their day. By putting myself in their shoes, I can ensure that the content I create resonates deeply with them and preserves their memories in a way that they will cherish forever.
