Life & Work with Lindsey Gilligan of Grandview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Gilligan.

Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my career at 19 in a local salon in Bexley. Once I turned 25 I was ready to make a big change. I felt like I was caught up in things that were no longer serving me and hindering my growth so I decided to open up my own loft in Grandview. From there I dove deep into color theory and really fell in love with it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were definitely some growing pains! It was really just trying to figure out exactly who I wanted to be as a stylist and what I wanted to focus on. Imposter syndrome is a real thing. Especially in the world of social media, it can be hard to feel like you’re doing enough/ the right thing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Over the years, my favorite part of my job remains the same. I love getting to meet so many different people. Everyone is taking a different path and it’s so cool to hear about them. It changes your perspective on life when you get to be a part of conversations that would never come up in your own little bubble. It has expanded my community, made me a better listener, and all around a better human.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Taking the risk to open up my own business has truly been the best decision of my life. I think taking risks builds confidence. It’s a free fall for a while so you really have to believe in yourself, but watching the pieces fall into place is such a great feeling.
